We're in!
We're like 5 people and have no idea what we're doing but I'm sure it'll be great.
We're like 5 people and have no idea what we're doing but I'm sure it'll be great.
Three (almost) engineers trying to ignore Cyclone Ockhi and create a game! Save our souls!
After being without power for 50+days and witnessing one of the biggest hurricanes in history I'm thinking I'll make a survival game =) Battle-hardened and ready, as long as the power stays on I'm in!
Tools: Unity Pyxel Edit Trello SourceTree VS Code As always, not sure what I'm doing for music..
Good luck everyone!
Hey guys I have made these models for you to use in the ludum dare jam and they are free to use, you can download them HERE

This will be my first time entering the Ludum Dare jam and I'm really excited! And scared... And anxious... I really just want to make something for the sake of doing it. To show to myself that I can make a game. I'll be using Phaser.js, which I've never used before and have absolutely no clue how to develop something with it, but the challenge seems like fun!
Good luck to everyone applying to this jam! :D
Hi everyone! I'm going to create a game, mainly with a story. My tools are:
The game will definitely have a lector, Maybe it will be dubbing :)
Expected "hardware" requirements: - Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10) - Monitor :) - Keyboard
I wish you all have fun!
something
This is the first time I join LD or any jam in general. (I'm pretty nervous right now)
Tools I will be using:
• GameMaker Studio 1.4
• BFXR
• Piskel
I hope to finish something appealing to the eye because I suck at art :P
for real this time, I promise™
Hello fellas!
Angry Squirrels is in once again!
Here is a little introduction to our team:
You can follow our progress on Twitter and on Facebook.
Good luck to everybody and don't forget to have fun!!

I'm excited to take part in yet another LD and this time around it will be my fifth. I'm in Sweden so I'll be heading to bed now setting the alarm for 2:30 AM so I can get ready for the start at 3AM.
This time around I will go 2D for the first time (I think) so my primary tools are: * Unity3D (2D) * ProCreate on Ipad Pro (sketching) * Adobe Illustrator with Wacom Tablet (sketch --> vector art) * Photoshop (may not be needed) * Steinberg Cubase + a bunch of VSTi for music * SoundForge
My backup plan is Blender and 3D where I'm more familiar.
Check out my previous 4 LD-games, there are full timelapses from the making of them too https://www.imphenzia.com/ludum-dare

To win i fight i need to have a good sleep! My tools are Notepad, Twine, Youtube and Brain! Good luck to everyone!
I'm going to be making my game in a 72 hr jam. But I also have to balance it all with 2 school projects, and a theatre rehearsal. This is also my first game jam, so I don't even have a pinch of what to expect. Any advice on time management?
Once again we have this wonderful event, you can feel the excitement growing with every hour, minute and second the clock ticks towards the start. Heart starts pumping faster and faster. Last chances to get your snacks and drinks ready and last bits of sleep before the race is off.
My body and mind are ready, bring it on!
Good luck and have fun everyone! ;)
Well I'm here again, I lost count how many times I entered already. I am thinking of procedural graphics this time, but we will see. If not I will probably use Pyxel Edit for graphics.
I usually end up without sounds but if get to that point bfxr, bosca ceoil, audacity and a trusty headset mic are what I would use.
Libraries will be mostly Playground.js. Three.js if I want to use WebGL. I usually edit code in Sublime but I may finally decide to shelf out for a Webstorm License.
I may be irregularly active over in the Discord and help out others when taking a break from my own game.
Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare,Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare.

LUDUM! LUDUM! LUDUM DARE! LUDUM! LUDUM! LUDUM DARE!
Good luck everyone :3
Me and my friend don't have much knowladge but we're sure it's going to be great. \ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) /
I don't want this jam to be as stressful as another one that I had. Yikes, that one hurt.
This is my first LD jam, I will be trying to make a game in 72 hours. Tools I use are Unity Bfxr Audacity Krita Blender I have never finished a game before, so planning to use this as a motivation to finish making a game. Good luck to everyone who is participating !
Because after you post 'I'm in' there's no backing out
4th Consecutive LD for me.
Nothing original for tools - Unity, Aseprite or Blender, Reaper for music.
Going to try and focus more on game design this time and not get too distracted with art/music. Even brought copies of 'The Art of Game Design' and 'A Theory of Fun', unfortunately haven't had time to actually read that much of them yet so hopefully just owning them will magically transform my games into being fun.
Nothing left to do but hope the theme doesn't suck too much. Good luck everyone
This is propably my fourth ludum dare. Even though i have almost a year of hiatus i thing i will try to build a game this year and stick with it.
Engine: Either Love2d or Unity2d depending on the theme Tools: Gimp Music: Don't know yet :P
Good luck to everyone and remember, may the best win!
S.N. : Maybe i defeat you all ... just kidding :P
So yeah, the event will start at 3AM where I live... So I will be working on it from tomorrow morning, which I lose a bit of time by doing, but also gaining sleep ^^. I also made the great decision to go out with friends tonight. RIP tomorrow, good luck everyone!
Here goes nothing. Going for the 48 hour challenge this weekend. Starting with just an empty window and a makefile.
Will be using Allegro5, with Sublime Text as my text editor.
Good luck everyone!
Just found this Vice article on Ludum Dare from 2015. Really interesting and good read.
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/xd74x7/discovering-why-international-games-jam-ludum-dare-is-so-important-to-indie-developers-953
As the 40th Ludum Dare is just a few hours away I remember some questions I always get asked.
One is what can you do when your code/project gets screwed up?
In some cases it's just that some files or scenes can't be loaded anymore or that by mistake the files or code got overwritten and this is easy to prevent.
I prefer to use a remote or local source control system like git or svn. Also when you are the only one who works on the project! It really can save your progress.
Every time you make a change commit your work and you get a version you can revert to if something bad happens. It also makes it possible to check code or assets you have created before and are not there anymore.
So while you are waiting maybe think about using a source control system to backup your work. You can find some great tutorials on YouTube. Also I prefer tortoise explorer integrations when you are on windows.
I wish everyone a great Ludum Dare!
This is my first time and I have no idea what I'm doing. LETS GOOOOO!
Feeling ill and getting an early night but not going to break that streak! I am in and using Unreal Photoshop Garage Band Bfxr.net Beechams cold and flu medicine
Haven't voted or seen any themes this time around so will be a complete surprise to see the theme at 2am. I will.be posting here and to twitter under @xopsx
Goodnight and good luck everyone.
Sounds like fun and a good excuse to lose some sleep, so count me in!!! :D Theme launches at 3am here, and I don't intend to go to bed before it does, hoping to sleep on it.
Been a while since I’ve done a ludum dare, so I think I'm back again! Will most likely be building another NES game using the boilerplate code here: https://github.com/cppchriscpp/nes-c-boilerplate
I should also be able build on lessons from the last couple ludum dare (and BitBitJam!) games I made.
Additional tools:
Looking forward to another crazy weekend!
First time doing this, no idea what i'm doing but i'll try. Got Unity, Photoshop, Energy Drinks, Coffee, and Snacks Good Luck to everyone
It's my first time and have to work this weekend, but it'll be a fun challenge!
Well this is my first game jam so this should be fun. Good luck everyone!
Hello all.
This might be a bit late so shortly before the Jam starts.
Anyway, I would like to offer a premade Game Maker 1.4 project that has some useful features preconfigured to save you some time getting started.
https://github.com/Cerno-b/gamemakerstartupproject
These things are preconfigured: - generic title screen - game object that handles the main game loop (objgame) - abstracted keyboard handling and controller input (see scripts->input and objgame.steps function) - very basic mouse controls - debug text output that only shows in debug mode - change resolution via hotkeys (1x, 2x, fullscreen) - exit the game by pressing Esc - load and use a custom pixel art font
In the readme you will find some advice on deploying and hosting your game as well some info about making a time lapse video.
I might update the project in minor ways but I don't want to put too much into it that can be considered an actual game.
I'm in just another time. This event will be pretty interesting as I have social stuff on Sunday so I'll try to finish the mechanics on Saturday and spend any remaining time on polishing the game up.
All of us a wonderful weekend.
Tools - Godot - Krita - Blender - LMMS (just in case I'd do music for the first time)
im in a team now
Hi! I'm really happy to attempt my first LD! I'm going to do the "normal mode" LD, but in 48Hours. I think I'll go for a 2D game since I'm a programmer. I'll use:
Hey there LD community! We're glad to participate once more to the event! We don't really have a team name as of right now, but here's how we'll be making the game:
Lots of coffee, a mildly comfortable chair.
Hope most of you will stick around and manage to complete their entry in time! Have fun everyone!
I'm in for ld40 this will be my 4th time participating and it should be fun
my playerStats:
Good luck everyone!
Hiya hiya hiya!
Ordinarily LD lands right after my finals week but this year it lands a few weeks before, so I'm gonna be juggling other work BUT!
We are still in! I look forward to seeing what everyone creates. <3 <3
Another Ludum dare ,count me in !!!
Although I have to work this weekend, I decided to participate in Ludum Dare once again !
Tools I would be using (probably) : Unity Photoshop / Gimp Illustrator / Inkscape Maya / Blender Bosca Ceoil Audacity Bfxr
Best of luck to all of you :)
Gonna try doing the jam solo this time!
Engine: Unity
Art: Piskel
Music: Bxfr
This is my first Ludum Dare, though not my first game jam. I'm going to be working in Unity. Hopefully asset creation won't do my head in!
When I try to change my avatar, nothing happens. Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks :)
Our 4th Ludum so far...this time with a smaller team and maybe less chaos :P Have fun everyone and lets make some awesome games!
Best of luck to everyone participating!
Hey there, always wanted to do a game jam, especially Ludum Dare! Now I get to since I don't have school finals. Going to be using Unity, Maya LT, Photoshop and probably Bfxr for sounds. We'll see what happens with music.
Best of luck to everyone!
Good luck everyone! Not sure if I registered correctly, but what matters is I'm here!
Going for my first LD, should be a blast. Going to be leveraging Godot for the first time, pretty excited!
me.
We will use Unity for engine, paint.net for art or if we will make pixel game , we ll use piskel for art. This is our first LD . We are so noob :grinning:
I´m a virgin.
Didn't do any preparations this time because of a busy schedule. Gonna be using Adobe Photoshop again for the art assets of our game. GLHF everyone c:
Hey Jammers !
Me and few friends are in for this new Ludum Dare ! Have fun :D
Our team: Alberto Coscia, Barbora Sevcikova, Jiri Kantor, Katerina Sevcikova, Katka Bariencikova, Lorenzo Gentile, Pavel M. Dlouhy and Vaclav B. Spiral
Tech: Unity; Tools: www.bfxr.net, PyxelEdit
Folks, we wish you all a good time during Ludum Dare 40!
I've been thinking about this for months now. I just wanna make some games!~ Woooo gonna be fun!
It's been a little while, but I had a blast the last one of these I was in.
First time is always scary! But we are in for our first time. Good luck for everyone!
Just made this, and thought some people might like to use it.
You can resize it however you want, change it, add it to your screenshots, your submission page, your video, your game, whatever.
deleted
We are a bit exhausted from the push to finish our GitHub Game Off entry, but we are in!
I am ever so slightly down with the flu, but hopefully Sas can do all the hard coding work while I just focus on art and game design this jam. As always we'll be using Unity.
Good luck to everyone!
It's currently 10:03 PM here in my country. I should sleep a bit before starting, but i can't, i'm too HYPED!
First time actually taking part in a Ludum Dare. Watched a whole bunch of them by now but never participated in one. Until now. Maybe.
This won't be my first game, however, the first one available in public.
Hardest challange will be Time Management and Music. Gotta teach myself how to make music in less then 5 hours...
We're a two-person team of previous Compo participants participating in the Jam together for the first time.
We are using:
▪Language: Visual Studio 2017 (C#)
▪Engine: Unity 5.6.2
▪2D: Photoshop CS6
▪3D: Maya 2018
▪Audio: FL Studio 10
Good luck everyone, have fun!
Finally getting round to taking part in my first ludum dare! I haven't made many games before but I'm hoping to give it my all!
Tools of the Trade:
Photoshop,Illustrator,Unity,Bosca Ceoil and Maya
Hello, maybe someone will read this or not. My first try. I will probably only code for like 6h if i´m lucky, but better 6h than nothing !
Tools: unity & c# blender gimp/mspaint boscaCeoil
And remember, it´s all for fun, not for the price.
Participating in Ludum Dare for the first time (it's about time)! good luck to all of us, and may our favorite theme get chosen ;)
Hey! This is the second time I'll participate, although this time I'll actually try to publish my game :D
I have literally to deal with school while I do this Ludum Dare, but no worries as this counts as CAS(something in my school(I'm 16(I'm one of the young ones haha) from Spain)). That will be my main challenge, but hopefully I'll deal with it.
I'll hopefully be making a Post-Mortem (I mean I have to if i want this to count as work for my school). I'm a poor teenager so my camera quality and microphone is really bad, but hopefully it will be fun. Content Quality > Video Quality? I don't really know.
I'll be using UNITY 2017 (C# because I'm a pleb), Pyxel Edit and some other things I'll come up while I make the game. I wish y'all the best and have fun coding! <3
So I have thought about giving Ludum Dare a go for a while now and never got a weekend in which I wasn't far too busy. To be honest this weekend is no different but I'm going to give it a swing regardless.
Hope everyone have a good compo and I am excited to see what everyone creates.
I'm a fourteen year old boy from Sweden and this is my fourth ludum dare. I'm really looking forward and i wish all of you the best of luck! This ld i'm planning on making detailed progress posts every day, so join in if you feel like (-:
I'm going to be using:
-Game maker (Of course not the dnd part)
-Maybe some gimp (Game maker has it's own sprite editor)
-Maybe some BFXR
As i said, wish you all the best of luck and let the games begin!
Magenta monster is near!

PS. Really, I am not in :( May be next time.
This may be a bit later than normal but I decided last minute that I was going to participate once again. I believe this will by my 6th LD straight. Only difference is, this time I am running solo. Keeping the game in scope is going to be critical this time around. GL and HF everybody! Can't wait to see what everybody makes!
This will be my first jam!
I couldn't come up with anything close to finished on LD39 (if you're curious, you may check it here), so I'm especially excited this time.
Regarding tools, I've got my usual doubts about the framework/engine. It could be Haxeflixel or Unity. I've been playing a bit with the new 2D tools, and they're a more than welcome addition.
I briefly considered OpenFL (Haxeflixel's using a relatively old version and it's been a while without any major updates) and Godot, but given the time constraints I guess I'll just stick to what I know best.
Besides that, I'll probably go with Photoshop or Aseprite for graphics, Audacity and Bosca or Caustic for music, and LabChirp, Chiptone or any other similar tool for sound effects.
Good luck to everyone, and as always, enjoy!! :grinning:
Haven't done it in a billion years. I want to use Lua and Love2D again, but I haven't used it in forever. Hopefully it's not too different!
I'll be using Photoshop for art/resources, and for music I have like five instruments in my apartment now (none of which I know how to play) so I think I'll record them and make something with Audacity.
I have a paper to write over the weekend, so let's see how this ends up. I'm probably going to use HTML and JavaScript, LWJGL, or Unity.
After coming 6th in the compo last time, I've decided to enter again. On the hype train already!
As with last time, these are my tools. * C++ using my very own 'ARK2D Framework', with Emscripten for WebGL builds. * Photoshop CC 2017 for art and animation (not the best tool for the job). * Reaper DAW with ReaSynth VST and ReaSamplomatic5000 VST and samples for music/drums. * BFXR for SFX.
If I get up to much else I'll let you know!
Pop, lock, open Sublime Text, don't stop!
Third Ludum Dare. Compo mode again.
Hope to create something original !
Jam begins at 3am here, so let's sleep now.
My second LDJam, this time solo!
Engine: Love2D Music: Sunvox or Bosca Ceoil SFX: bfxr Art: Aseprite
Hopefully it doesn't fall apart like last time... Good luck!
First Ludum Dare and second jam.
I won't be able to work full time but i absolutely want to participate! :D
So I'm in as well. I already created alot of shitty, little, unoriginal games but I never created any from scratch with a given theme within a given time. Soooo... let's see how this will go.
Things I'll most likely use (depending on the themes and my idea): Unity, Monogame in VS, Aseprite, Paint.Net, Blender, Bosca Ceoil, Fruity Loops(also some O² and alot of C8H10N4O2)
I'll be using:
Good luck everyone!
Not the best programmer not the best artist with pixels or a pen oh boy
This will be my 8th time, 7th compo.
Tools and stuff I'll be using: * Love2D - Framework * Visual Studio Code - Code editing * Krita, (Gimp?), (Inkscape?) - Graphics * Audacity, FL Studio 12, LabChirp, (Sunvox?) - Sound and Music * Tiled - Level editing * Some libraries I've written up that I don't recommend using :P
This time I'll try to leave a good amount of time for music, I didn't have enough time the last few compos. And hopefully I won't fiddle with Tiled features so much, wasting several hours of time this time around...
Well, good luck all! Hopefully the theme doesn't suck :D
After nearly a year not participating there is finally a Jam on a free Weekend!
My Toolset includes: - LibGdx - aseprite - sfxr - caffeine ( a lot!)
I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate but I'll try! Will likely use Love2D?
What would you recommend as a good time-lapse tool?
Dear game jam participants! I am a video game composer with several years of composing experience and training with one gam jam under my belt thus far. If anyone is interested, I'll be making myself available to one game developer group who is in need of some fresh music for their game. First come, first served, of course.
My primary genre for video games has been RPGs over the years, but I can also compose for action games. I also composed some horror themes for the previous game jam I worked on. If you want to see a brief portfolio of my work, you can head on over to my Bandcamp: https://jakegamelin.bandcamp.com/
I just got over being super sick this week so I think the best way to get back in the saddle of development is with a little game jamming! GLHF everyone!
Failed miserably at my last Ludum Dare attempt so will be giving it another go. However I always seem to have plans on the weekends that this runs so no different this time around. I am pretty new to programming and not the greatest artist, just here to get better. Tools at my disposal:
Not sure what I will use but these are the tools I have available.
Totally excited for my first LD! It's going to be epic! Good luck to everyone who's entering this time around. Seems listing tools is the norm so: IDE: GameMaker Studio 2 Art:Gimp Sound: Sonar (so sad Cakewalk is done actively developing. I'm looking at you Gibson!) 😢
We are sitting on the cusp of a great moment, a moment where we throw ourselves fully into the battle against creativity, motivation, and most notoriously... time. There will be moments where you will shout, you will cry, and you will question your very existence, but you will persevere. Some of us won't make it, some of us will fall... but we shall leave none behind! If you see a fallen comrade in code, pick them up, push them forward, and may the gods be with you! <3
Good luck!
Trying to go from a 2 average to a 3 average. Got an artist now, I think.
I'll be in as well
Tools Game maker 2 - code only- Asesprite Gimp
I've been dipping in and out of heavy game dev for several years now. Some days I'd spend all day on it ; others not at all.
If I'm to go commercial one day, I've got harness the discipline to focus and maintain it. When I do games jams, I feel focused. It's this determination that I want to keep up for the rest of my life.
Big Bug Games signing in. Hope we all have a great time, drink a lot of coffee, get a bit stressed, curse from time to time, eat tons of junk food, and learn a lot!
See you around :3
These are exciting times. Let's do this!
