LD 43 November 30–December 3, 2018

Review our first LD game "I, Candle". Every feedback counts. Thankks!

You’re a candle in a maze and you escape from a human during a blackout. In order to see through the maze you need to sacrifice yourself and light your wick with matches. But if you want to see more, you need to melt more! You can find more matches and spilled wax to gain your health back along the way.

Controls:

‘E’: Ignite,

‘1’,’2’,’3’,’4’: Increase your intensity while ignited,

‘E’ while ignited: extinguish your fire,

Have fun!!

We're pretty new here

Hey, we're pretty new in the LD jam, we just finished our second LD jam and we want to advertise our game but rating other people games did not exactly help, even posting a blog gets very annoying after a few times, we'll be glad to know how to advertise our game well In a non-irritating way while we rating other people's games Thanks :)

Can we add other languages additionally?

Without disqualification of course) We did a quest, and as we found out many had problems with this. I did not find it in the rules. It seems that this is not additional functionality, but respect for the players. hola.jpg

The best sacrifice

It was supposed to be a multiplayer game, but I couldn't manage this in jam time... hehe

Altough, I think the IA I made is smart enough to give you some fun. Please, take a chance to "The best Sacrifice"

If you are looking for some games to play.

I played about 40 games these days, there are three games I like the most. If you are looking for some games for fun, you can try them.

None of them is mine, my game is not bad, but theirs are truly great work. Just want to share with you guys since finding a good game in the thousands of entries is not easy.

Amazingly (and accidentally) my game works on mobile

I loaded up my game on an iPhone, and was surprised to see it actually started running. I added some viewport meta tags and BOOM! it was actually playable!

phone.png

There are a couple of reasons this is really amazing and crazy.

Hover? Laziness will fix that.

The first is, I never designed the controls to work with mobile: it was only a last minute design change at the zero hour (well, 2 hours before the zero hour) that meant it accidentally worked at all.

Initially, stats in the game were to be editable at the top of the screen. You would click on someone/something to see the stats at the top, then either click again to drag them, or move up and modify the stats.

But it was clunky and not fun. Also I had run out of time to make the stats meaningful. At the last minute I switched to the current (much more "natural") controls where you hover to see stats, then click to interact.

Thanks to some original code that I forgot to delete, both hover AND clicking would display the stats and select the entity. By accident, the lack of "hover" support on the mobile was solved. There's still a weird cursor on the screen that only kind of follows you around - but hey, it works!

import Peep from "./Peep.js".

The second reason I'm amazed the game works at all, is that I wrote it completely in JavaScript using all the latest-n-greatest EcmaScript features, without transpiling/compiling anything... and the phone supports it all. Since when?!

That means that JavaScript native modules work on mobile devices. I had no idea it had rolled out so quickly. I don't know if the Android browser can run it yet (I'll test in the office today! [EDIT: Yep! Works on a recent Android device too!]), but I'm happy to see these features become ubiquitous.

The upside of these new features is that this image represents my entire project: no NPM project, no "dot files", no building... nuthin'. Just a few plain text files and we've got a game! View-source and you get all the code - just like the olden days again. sniff.

Play Farm to Table!

An observation I have made rating games.

People really need to opt out of the humor category if there isnt anything funny in it or the game isnt meant to be humorous its just awkward rating these types of games on humor. I usually leave it blank for those cases.

The Tearable Three

LD42 SUBMISSION POST: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/the-tearable-three

Really looking forward to our post-jam version of this game! inwBFT.png

Please use this post to check out our game, and rate using the link above! I would LOVE to see any feedback on this post or our submission post regarding the art/aesthetic of the game. Please take an opportunity to leave ART compliments, critique, suggestions, etc!

I'd like to make improvements or additions to post-jam artwork!

Regarding Future Gameplay & Bugs: Still working on some collision and bug fixes. We also plan to make the controls a little more natural! However- we are aiming to keep the controls a little difficult, as it would be difficult to move with some missing limbs. But, we do acknowledge it's a little too extreme at the moment. :)

Right now, we only have one level but 2 additional "unlockable" characters. So, the game play will be different, as the different characters have different stats!

Lastly- we DO plan to have a boss scene/level with a corresponding story, once we get our other bugs addressed! So- stay tuned for a a bit more art upon completing the level!

Spells and Slimes

Come to kill some slimes in my rogue-likish turn base combat game. Find the spells by typing on your keyboard, but be careful, every time you win a fight, you will have to sacrifice a letter that will hurt you every time you use it.
