LD 43 November 30–December 3, 2018

Bath Time v1.07

Our Ludum Dare 42 entry, Bath Time, has also been updated to v1.07. This version fixes a touchscreen input issue in the iOS/Android versions that caused the scrubber to disappear from time to time when fast movements were used.

Ludum Dare as a school project

Hey, LD43 will be very important for me... I will get a grade for it in school! How cool is that?! I have to present the process and the final result. Wish me luck :)

Come and join Geta Game Jam 6!

pygame 2 status

There's been quite a lot of work on pygame lately.

TLDR; it builds from source on Win, Linux, Mac, and it mostly works. Multi touch, hardware acceleration, and other SDL2 goodness. Plus plenty of bug fixes and code cleanups.

First Time Streaming LD!

Happy Wednesday, fellow developers and self-torture aficionados!

I'm super excited to participate in my 5th Ludum Dare, and this time I'm doing something a little different: I'll be streaming the entire thing on Twitch! Feel free to stop by the stream and chat. I'll also be streaming some entries afterwards so keep an eye out for the sign-up form!

Thanks to @pov who has implemented some welcome new features to the theme suggestion, and to all the developers who are using their free time to work on the site. The jam is constantly improving and I can only see it growing in the future!

You can check out my stream here, I also stream at 3:30 USMST on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Theme suggestions are open!

I like this time, when the upcoming event theme suggestions opens : it feels like the next LD is already starting right now
here are my suggestions for this LD
I think that since I'm doing this and until now, I viewed only one of my suggestions survive the slaughter of the same LD, and maybe two or three revived by someone else in following LD's theme suggestions. Each time I try to suggest what seems to be good themes, not especialy for me, but with a wide range of ideas and games kinds that can be done with - but obviously, given I'm failing almost each time, I guess I'm not so good to find good themes. Well, I'm OK with that, but I'm not giving up, I will try again over and over, with the hope to see one of my suggestions in the rounds again.
And you, what are your suggestions this time? What do you think about mine?

Theme Suggestions!

Theme suggestions are open, which means LD43 is basically here already! I'm putting in some themes this time, so hopefully it doesn't suck. (Though knowing this community it will anyway)

Ludum Dare 43 is in town!

Hey fellow Jammers! It's that time of the quarter again, 48 hours of pain, regret and pizza... and gamedev.

This would be my fourth Ludum Dare, which I guess means it's my anniversary - woo me. Ludum Dare is always an awesome way of tracking progress and of course, bettering your own gamedev skills.

My action plan this time round - is to do better than last time round. Now that that's done, let's get to the theme suggestions!

*Don't worry that awful spelling mistake has been fixed.

The "Similar Themes" feature seems really useful for (hopefully) cutting down the amount of repeat themes in the slaughter (looking at you: colours, parallel and buttons) and also giving people a heads up if their idea is already in use, so thanks @pov

Anyway, I can't wait for the Jam to start, 22 days to go. I'm all fired up!

Here we go again!

This will be my third Ludum Dare. Last time round I did slightly worse than my first run, which I attribute to the fact that my LD42 game was just Asteroids with a shoddily-programmed gimmick tacked onto it, whereas my LD41 game was more imaginative and had a fully-fledged storyline. So my goals for LD43 are to make another story-based game, and to finally try and learn how to use PICO-8's music editor so my game's audio doesn't just consist of terrible 8-bit sound effects xD

Good luck to all those taking part!

Make an engine in 20 days

I want to use a custom game engine for this Ludum Dare.

Ludum Dare starts in 22 days.

Fuck.

Anyway, here's the repo I'll be posting code to.

Obligatory "I'm in" post!

Yep, I'm in again. As usual, my programs are GameMaker Studio 2 for coding, FL Studio for music, PyxelEdit for graphics and sfxr for sound effects.

Also, here are my theme suggestions: Unbenannt.png

Good luck to everyone! Let's have fun again!

Why ?

bucket.jpg

Hi! I've been wondering a lot about LD, jams, and game dev in general. And I wonder why YOU participate in LD, what is the main reason?

  • Is it just for fun?
  • Do you need that time to escape your daily routine?
  • Maybe you just want to push yourself and learn?
  • Do you have bigger hopes in mind?
  • Or maybe you want to promote your work?

I'd love to know!

I'm In!

I am in for my 8th(!) Ludum Dare. Now that I'm more polished with my engine (Construct2), I feel that I can spend more time on polish and less time on figuring out why stuff isn't working. This is (I'm hoping) going to lead to a more story based game with less struggling to figure out why the engine, say, only lets something work if you switch it with another event that shouldn't affect the other event at all.

Tools: Construct2 (Engine) Jukedeck / Boscaceoil (Music [Boscaceoil is for if I have enough time]) Bfxr (SFX) Piskel (Graphics)

Wish you all luck!

Balloon Girl is out for Android!

I am really proud of this big project and can now concentrate on the next things and Ludum Dare's . The next plan for this game is to port this to PC (but with many changes and more content to fit PC Users Requests).
