LD 43 Day One !

So glad to be finally doing my first Ludum Dare. Took me a while to think of a project for the theme but finally, here it is. Today I spent time drafting ideas and creating the core mechanics of my game. If anyone has any name suggestions please comment cause I don't know what to call it :)

The game is a puzzle you use cubes of various shapes and sizes to try and solve a puzzle to get one of the cubes to the end. I plan on adding more cube shapes tomorrow as well as more complex levels. I am a college student and finals are right around the corner this semester so I can't stay up till 2 am working on Ludum Dare like some of you can, but best of luck to everyone else I look forward to seeing others creations :)

i guess i'm not doing love2d after all; here's my idea

the design i've landed on is going to be using 3d, so i'm probably going to use unity instead of love2d. so have fun with the vore template i guess, lol

this game is a sort of bullet hell gladiatorial combat game. in between battle rounds, you must sacrifice a capability or item to buy another item or capability; the options are randomized between rounds, and as you play you'll be cycling the items you have access to. each round pits you against a boss enemy with various partly randomized characteristics. as you progress in the rounds, the threat increases, amplifying their characteristics and making them more dangerous. you lose when you run entirely out of hull points. oh, and hull points can be exchanged for items too (but not so many that you would instantly lose during the buy phase).

Beginnings of an Idea and basic work

Me and my team very quickly settled on an Idea and developed it within the first hour. From there we've setup our Unity Project on GitHub and started working towards developing the main features of our Idea. our Idea is relatively simple, a 2D top down dungeon crawler similar to Binding of Isaac in which the player has to sacrifice a part of their max health in order to properly defeat a boss. one member is working on making sprites while basic features are implemented.

Starting LD43 on Twitch!

So this is our... 6th LD, technically? We're gonna be streaming it at twitch.tv/aggressivecombustion in about 5 minutes! Come watch us come up with ideas and panic a lot :P

First Time trying LD

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. Kind of trying to kick start myself into entering game development world. 2 hours have passed and there's still a vague idea about swarms and bullet hell. The player is the swarm of course.

Idea!

Dunno if I like it yet, but I finally came up with an idea! I'll keep you guys posted.

Interesting idea

So we want to play around more in Unity. So we are going to use a random world generator to create a nice world for to create our point and click horror game. CRAZY RIGHT...

Got my idea down

Got the idea, and made the player model. Time to sleep on it and start fresh in the morning.

Last Call! Looking for Team Memebers for Game Jam!

I am a noob game developer that uses Unity. I know some basic programming, audio, and art. I am looking for a coder and an artist. I am fine with my team members being noobs as I am myself a noob. However, these team members should have Unity since I am using Unity. I might have a flexible schedule during the weekend but I will have plenty of time to work on the game. I do value sleep so I will not work on the game for the whole jam period. I want to be the director of the game and manage the project. I might do a little bit of art, sound, and especially coding. I am more likely to code more for the project than to do the art and sound of the game. If you want to see how experienced I am with game making, please see my games here: https://d-studios.itch.io/

Plan in place

We think we have an interesting idea. I've been making some basic 2d graphics while the others brainstorm mechanics, planning on doing code work soon!

now... prototyping

prototyping ... everything is going well so far, the idea is quite clear, I have to add entertaining elements of gameplay but for now the basics for everything to work perfectly before focusing on art.DtTcGIhWsAA8ejI.jpg

Nourish Nosferatu - Prototyping and developing ideas

Initial Ideas Have some sort of scoring system for different people you feed from different justifications

Qualities of blood – Rich / Poor / Corrupt etc ? Different types of blood boost different abilities

Generative world???? A different play experience every time? different classes of person in town – random placement amount

new ideas – player turns different classes of NPC'S to vampires but each class has a different value in game attributed to them and + and – to gameplay

Generate different classes of victim Business man – Profit increases but not good in combat Policeman – good in combat but increases wanted level Homeless person – Ethics decrease but little cost in a societal sense prostitute - not sure yet but will think of something creative

Some progress I guess.

I'll continue in the morning but I've got an idea. Might not be too great but it's simple enough to get me across.

I made some 2D art and my code is an atrocity against any good programming practices. Small update but that's really it. I'll see how the next few days go.

Sacrifice...right?

Would be a shame if you somehow were to lose a limb everytime you do something... But from what?

Two and a half hours

Okay, so we are two in a half hours in the jam. Here is a screenshot of our island that was generated in Gaia. Progres1.png

Idea is found!!

After two hours of thinking, the idea is found!! I can go to sleep!!

Got an Idea and small Prototype!

Its going to be a platformer. Got a good 4,5h sleep until 2:55 so I got up in time to start working ^^

well crap

Spent half day on a cold wet metal ladder hanging lights I don't care about and effin walmart, forgot this started, logged in hate the theme, no big deal hated every single theme since 2009, don't have a single bit of my toolchain installed but ya know what

Im going to try
