With our initial idea we might have bitten off a bit more than we could chew and so the game turned out a bit smaller than what was originally planned.
Still, we are quite happy with the outcome!

This was my first Ludum Dare since a long time and i totally enjoyed it. Despite the fact that i only had one day effectively it was a super calm run this time. I reduced my goals more then ever and had a good amount of time with my wife and kids outside in the sun. That surely helped being productive. Yes, there were many things i wanted to to but didn't had the time for but this time i knew that beforehand. That helped.
I just wanted to share some key aspects of my workflow:
Field recording
I wanted to do some field recording for this game and had two takes in the end: One in the forest, the other at a busy street. Having to go outside for game content is something i really can recommend afterwards. Unfortunately there was no thunderstorm this weekend, i could have used that :)
Drawings
Another thing i wanted to do for a long time but only now had the chance for was using a light table and scanner for having pencil art in the game. This worked out much better then i hoped for. The workflow was smooth and fast and I'm really happy with the result.
One draw...back was everything turned out a little bit too tiny and i couldn't scale the assets without loosing details.
Sfx & music
For the sound effects i recorded my voice and pitched it in garageband. Simple but sufficient.
Surprisingly the hardest part this time was the music. It was really close to the deadline already and i struggled with the atmosphere i wanted to create.
I'm happy with the result but one big letdown for me is, that the overall mix is way too low. I did everything with headphones and it sounded ok. Note to myself: Test the game at least once with a plain setup.
Overall a good one this time. For the first time to be precise :)

Still recovering from putting everything we had into Where There's Smoke. The game works wonderfully, and has a ton of propelling content. It's difficult to finish though, be warned. :)

After a day of existance, Escape from Hell has received several returns... Thanks ;)
One came back several times; the player moves slowly and this makes the game tedious.
I made a small update to solve this problem!
