Idea: Adding a "I completed this" checkbox to the game rating page

I think it'd be interesting to see how many people were actually able to complete a game before leaving a rating. I don't think we should require it to leave a rating, but rather have it as an extra piece of feedback for games.

A lot of games end up being too hard, or too long for people to complete. Or they don't have a strong enough hook, people play them for a bit and then give up. And of course, a lot of the people rating games aren't that invested in spending a lot of time, and move on quickly. It's sad as gamedev to see that, but also its a reality which we have to design around! So I think having a checkbox would be helpful to figure out whether a game should try to be shorter, or have a better hook, or what.

It'd probably have a slight effect to encourage people to make the effort to play longer, although I'm thinking the main advantage would be the feedback.

Thoughts?

Try playing my game

Looped is a simple shooter were your are stuck in a loop (Circle) and you have to defend it from enemies that are trying to shoot you. You can shoot them back by using the mouse and avoid enemy bullets by moving around using WASD/ arrow keys. If the enemy come in collision with the loop it will shrink. Hope you enjoy the game and please leave a feedback for the post jam version I am making

Also I am in need of some games to play and rate, so please leave your game if your game haves a HTML5 version

Sorry if the frequent posts are annoying you

Play our game, 'Dolen Days' made for ludum dare 47.

Follow this link; https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/dolen-days-working-title

This is a game we created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam. The theme is “Stuck in a loop”.

You play Dolen. A young man who has started a new job and moved into a new apartment. The game shines a spotlight on the issue of balancing work life and personal life. Having less energy from work lowers our motivation to do things for ourselves which can ultimately affect our personal lives but work lives as well.

We'd love to hear feedback :)

Is my game's HTML5 working?

Hi, I have a doubt if my game's HTML5 version is working because when I open it it is showing me it is loading for first time and does not load. Please can you check if it is working because I don't have any other system to check it and it is showing the same on the phone. I am not doing this so that you will play my game, I am just worried. Thanks https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/looped-3

Great simple game

Play this one you wont regret the 5 mins it takes https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/circle-golf

Escape the sun animation

Our friend did animation of our game  It could work as an intro cutscene. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/escape-the-sun ezgif-6-8eb3644cd765.gif 4mb.gif

How should I move on?

So, I'm a game developer (obviously) and I want to let more people know about my progress and game making (as every game developer wants). The problem is that I develop my own game engine and I do not have a specific game idea just yet, so all I do right now is developing my game engine.

How can I start getting a little bit more popular in the community, is there an other option other than Youtube? because I'm not that ready to start a channel nor streaming on Twitch.

Thanks :)

Since the jam I've added comments and removed some unnecessary allocations, but otherwise it was all jam code (so expect a few questionable choices )

This is not something you'll be able to just drop into your own project, it uses a few tools like an object pooler that I wrote a while ago. It should provide a decent reference though, and some general optimisation tips! Feel free to ask any questions

Don't forget to play the jam entry!!
