Can I Get a Hundred Ratings

Hello there, this was my first Ludum dare!!! It was so fun and AWSOME. All the games published were super awesome!😛Wish I get to play them all! Sadly LD46 is about to end😢. I am 11 and was super excited about this. Hopefully I can get more feedback. Play my game and give feedback at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-last-flower. Your feedback will come in use in improving the game and my coding skills!!! Also, I am making a full version of this game with all your feedback in mind. Thank you so much for your support !!😜😁😄 I am trying to get 💯 ratings on my game. Help me achieve my goal by sharing this game and by leaving a review/rating. One again thank you so much for your support! 😑😃🙂 Also, I am a bit busy lately but if u want, leave a link to your game below in the comments and I might play it. (I can not guarantee I will play it because I am busy but leave a link and I might play it)

Need a few more ratings !

Hey everyone ! I just made my first jam game, which was a pretty great experience. However, I am missing 5 ratings to get on the leaderboard. I would really like to get these last 5 ratings, to at least show up on the leaderboard. So, if you have some time, I would be very happy if you could play and rate my game !

It is called "It's Gonna Work !" (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/its-gonna-work) Play as a scientist that thinks his experiment is gonna work ! Help him stop the other scientists from closing his portal. In this fast-paced game, there is only one goal; KEEP THE PORTAL ALIVE !

Have a great day !

What's up ?

Hi there!

Last two days before the end of voting, tried so many games... Had a blast! It was an amazing emotional but also overwhelming and exhausting experience. I made a list of my favorite entries on itch.io, out of the many I have tested : https://itch.io/c/852118/ld46-favorites - Any favorites in common?

In case you're interested in a weird poin&click with old-school vibes, be sure to check our entry before the deadline! I'll do my best to try your game as well, after my work day, if you drop a feedback - constructive criticism very welcomed :) Had the secret goal of reaching 80 ratings, we're very close and it would mean a lot to our team.

On another note, what is everyone up to? Curious to know if you plan to continue developement and polishing of your game post-jam - or if you're already doing so.

As for me, I have finally picked the art of Consequences of Gardening back up again. Here's a sneak peak of my progression so far for the market scene. And guess what? Using references instead of just half-assing things in a rush actually makes a difference - we all knew that, yeah.

I also discovered this fabulous website, and couldn't resist drawing the main character : https://aidn.jp/wowa/196694826 - makes me laugh uncontrollably for 20 minutes every time I lay my eyes on it.

Any jam / post-jam screenshots of your game to share ?

Cheers!

Save the City

If you like games in the style of the Atari and NES, you will probably like our game. We are so close to having over 20 ratings, so if you want, please rate it!

Space Station Express Post Mortem

This is a post mortem for my LD46 entry, Space Station Express.

The Idea

Usually when the theme is announced I jot down a whole list of ideas, and then choose the one I like the most. For whatever reason, this theme only really made me think of one idea: transporting some live cargo in a spaceship. It seems like there are more ideas you could come up with from this theme, but that was the one I thought of. I decided to name it Space Station Express in a sort of vague Futurama reference.

What Went Well

  • I was using a new game engine for this one, Godot. Previously I've usually used UE4 for 3D stuff and libGDX for 2D stuff. I made a nearly complete game before the LD started to get some practice with Godot, and it mostly paid off in that I didn't have to deal with too many surprises (though, see below 🤦‍♂️).
  • I'm pretty happy with the idea. I think it mostly hit the sweet spot of simple enough for new players but complex enough to allow for some varied gameplay.
  • Most of the graphics. In particular, I'm pretty happy with how the background turned out.
  • I used my library of helpful Godot C# functions, which came in handy. I even added a few new ones that I created during the LD.

What Did Not Go Well

  • For this project, I decided to go with Godot's most experimental flow, HTML5+Mono. This was only added in 3.2 and it's still very new and experimental. I'd used it before, so I thought I knew all the pitfalls, but as it turned out I did not. In particular, it seems that garbage collection doesn't work at all, which means that unless you can somehow have zero allocations, you will inevitably overflow the available memory leading to a crash. I tried various fixes, and at one point I thought the issue only affected Chrome, but as it turned out, it affects all browsers. I've opened a bug with the developers, but it looks like it's not going to be easy to fix, unfortunately.
  • Sound levelling was another problem. For some reason, all sounds were shifted too high but I failed to notice this during testing. To help not blow out people's ears, I've reduced the sound level by 25 decibels.
  • Some people mentioned that they couldn't figure out how much health they had. This confused me until I realized that I have a 1600 pixel tall monitor, and I'd foolishly set the window height to 1080 pixels. With the window decorations, this meant that for someone with a 1080p screen some parts of the UI would likely be pushed off the screen. This was why people were saying they couldn't figure out how much health they had. I fixed this by making the game fullscreen by default.
  • It's fairly minor, but once again I forgot to allow for people with AZERTY keyboards. Nobody actually mentioned it this time, but I still should have remembered.
  • Not directly related to the game, but it looks like I started judging other people's games too late. I'm only at 15 ratings even though I've rated 57 other games.

Anyway, if you want to try Space Station Express go here. I'd really appreciate a few more ratings.

Just about the end!

With just over one day left until voting ends, I figured I would give one final push to see if anyone would like to check out my game before the voting period is over! If you are at all interested or have some free time, I would greatly appreciate if you checked out and gave some critical feedback to my compo entry for Ludum Dare 46.

This was an incredible experience and I can't wait to come back for the next one! I also had loads of fun playing some other games (although I have been fairly busy so I didn't get to play as many as I would have hoped) and would love to see some of these games become something bigger and better beyond the jam.

My entry was a fast-paced, 3D, puzzle game. If this sounds interesting to you, please give it a go! I would love to hear back from as many people as I possibly can to help me grow as a developer!

Thanks to everyone who has played or will play my game, and thank you to everyone who took the time to read my ramblings! :)

Looking for a game to rate?

* If you haven't tried my compo entry, "Defend the Loot!" why not check it out? The objective of the game is to defend the loot chest as waves of enemies attack you. Before each wave you get a minute to build up your base. There are 10 levels, getting to the end wont be easy! *

You can find the game here https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/defend-the-loot

Have fun!

Struggling to find games to play? It seems unlikely. But if you are interested in a strategic, turn-based space sim, apparently in the vein of Oregon Trail, check out my game anyways. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/flight-of-the-cepheus fresh2death.png

Would love some more advice on my game "Sprouting Tale"

So, this was my first ever entry on a Ludum dare game jam. I just wanted to ask you guys about the future of this game. Do you guys think it's a game original enough to be published on somewhere like Steam and Playstore ? or should I work on some other project instead? I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
