Hi Ludum Dare community!
We are The Brodevhood, two indie video game developers from Zaragoza, Aragón (Spain), and we wanted to thank you all for this awesome event.
We had a video game company some years ago, but it didn't go really well. When it all went to shit, we went through a process of grief and trauma for almost two years. But lately we were feeling better, regaining our will to keep making games.
And then this jam came, and we finally were able to create something new.
We know its a little and flawed prototype, but after two years of nothingness, it feels really nice to make games again.
So, long story short, THANK YOU, Ludum Dare.
Our jam: ALURTE and KEEP IT ALIVE theme
PLAY ALURTE

When we first saw the them of this LD, we almost came up with the idea for our jam inmediately. We were already working on a project of our own and we thought this theme would fit perfectly for a prototype we wanted to make.
We are working on a project based on aragonese mythology and folklore with a horror twist, an anthology of tales based on our own home land stories.
A first idea came along: a miner who has to escape from the caves with its bird. Long time ago, miners used birds to navigate the mines because birds were more sensible to bad air conditions so if the bird was feeling unwell, they knew they had to get out of there ASAP. So our prototype is based on that.
ALURTE is a contraction from A LURTE, an aragonese expression that means A LANDSLIDE or AN AVALANCHE in our home language, fabla aragonesa.
Keep it alive theme worked for us on two levels:
1.- players have to keep alive the light of their flashlight and bird in order to being able to get out of the mines.
2.- Including some poems written in fabla aragonesa and basing the lore of the game in our own folklore and pyrenean folklore, we are trying to keep alive our history and roots.
ALURTE prototype gameplay:

So the prototype was set: a miner has to escape from the caves while looking from a lost expedition that are probably dead and taking care of her bird that will react to bar air conditions or the ghosts that inhabit these caves. You have to take care of the Mental Health (MH points) and the oxygen left for the bird box and explore the tunnels.
At least that was the idea, we know it turned out a little bit opaque and we'll keep working on it.
Today, April 23th, is San Jorge (Sant Chorche in aragonese), day of Aragón, so we think its all coming together in a beautiful way.
Thank you all, hope you like our prototype.
Let's play some LD games, y'all!
The Brodevhood.
