LD23

Hi Everyone: Checking in.

This is one of the hundreds of “Holy crap I’m going to do this” posts that have been popping up lately.

About me: I’m a graduate student at UCF.  I work in a graphics lab, so I will be using OpenGL and C++0x

I’m using a personal code library that I developed for my graphics research.  It is available here under the GPL, but its not much, just model loading and saving
and an OpenGL window that my fiancee wrote as a present to me that I got permission to use and put open source.  Engine is at https://github.com/Steve132/soaper6 but I strongly recommend against anyone actually using it.

I hope that the graphics on my game don’t suck too much, that I actually have the gumption to finish, and that my little engine ends up better as a result. (I’m using LD to put it through its paces and see where it needs improvement)

Reigniting the Bonfire

The last time I made a game, it was October of 2016. I had recently left my job without a job to follow up on (long story), feeling a little down on myself, and just couldn't find the headspace to make anything. I started a new job at the beginning of 2017 and sorta buckled down to prepare myself for this new career. Oddly, my new found friends at this company were all encouraging me to get back in, even offering to start up something with me, to which I was fairly wishy washy on. I just couldn't kickstart that drive.

One of those friends however, has been diving in to making games during the pandemic. We were chatting about his game this week when I saw that LD48 was happening. I pitched it to him and received an incredibly enthusiastic "Let's do it!". So here I am, ready to dive into an experience I enjoyed so much in the past with @systemeffect!

Seems our tools of the trade here are: - Game Maker Studio 2 - Aesprite

I haven't been this hype for building something in a long while, hopefully it sets that bonfire ablaze!
