Ludum Dare 56

Retro PC, Tabletop, 2D, 3D, and it's done...

This Ludum Dare was intense! I was convinced until the very last moment that I wouldn't be able to finish the game, but it all worked out in the end :)

Gameplay-wise, it's an idle game where you create small creatures, but the main idea was to combine the aesthetics of an old PC with a board game. I think I managed to achieve that, and I invite everyone to give it a try!

Post-Jam Game — Improve What's There or Start All Over?

After a jam, there's always that urge to improve the game. You sit down and list the tasks: fix something here, add something there, rework this, and maybe even remove that entirely. But then you look at this list of tasks and realize it’s already turning into a completely different game. And this is where it’s crucial to strike a balance: keep the game as it is but make it clearer. Remove the annoying parts while preserving all of its charm.

As the results approach, I’m preparing a post-jam version. I’m not sure if I managed to keep the spirit of the original, but I hope the game has become more enjoyable.

Let’s see how it turns out. In the meantime, feel free to check out the jam version of the game and leave your feedback!

It was funny!

Just a little bit left to go. This has been awesome and so much fun!

This was my first COMPO, and I'm really happy with how it all turned out! Thanks to everyone who played, and thanks for all the kind words.

When half your map ends up on the cutting room floor...

How much did you have to cut during LD?

In my LD57 game —Depths Scraper — I had to scrap half the entire map (and a chunk of gameplay with it) just to make the deadline.

Swipe to compare the before and after:

Anyone else feel that post-jam sadness for features and levels that never saw the light of day?
