How come we can already judge games when the event is still in progress? :)
It's my favourite part of the year again. The second Christmas, the second birthday, better than booze, sex and anything in the world. ANOTHER LUDUM DARE!
But it isn't happening for another 30 days :(
Another Ludum Dare, so it's another time of me being a smartass about how it is important to have a good theme.
For some people this is not an important aspect of this competition, yet many of us pray for rally good and variable theme.
I don't want to change anyone's mind, I just want you to think about themes more than you have so far.
It's always better to have 1000 varieties of "Good Guy/Limited Space..." theme, than 1000 same games of "Laser Gun/Using Only Mouse..." theme.
Most importantly, all of you have fun and enjoy this amazing event! :)
Is it possible to change user's name somehow?
I don't want to sound like a butthurt or anything, because ratings isn't exactly what I crave for during LDs.
However, I've been thinking if it isn't a bit unfair that we compare games made by one person and then games made by for example, by five-man team.
From my experience, time is the most valuable resource during the competition, so a game can be obviously way more polished when you are not alone.
So this is my suggestion for potentional changes in the future: Having some kind of distinction in the ratings.
.
Have a beautiful weekend full of creativity and fun.
As an adventure games creator this kinda "technical" theme is not what I was hoping for. However, it won't stop me from doing my best! :)
.
Have fun everyone!
Not sure if it's exactly "incompatible", but I merged point-and-click adventure with card (collecting) game :)
I hope you are all having fun!

Hello good people,
In short:
Point-and-click adventure mixed with card collecting.
You can try if you want :)

Then try out my game about a guy in a gothic castle seeking 12 collectible cards :)

There isn't a bad/good theme, because this differs from every one of us. However to make a theme fun for most of the people, we should focus on themes that are open to as many possibilities as possible. For example, I really like the theme "Fragile" which is in the Round 1. Because it can be really anything: Fragile planet, soon to be destroyed - Sci-fi RTS Fragile soul - Mysterious adventure game Fragile weapon - An action platformer Fragile Relationship - Love/Relationship game Fragile element - a game about making bombs Fragile Body - Sad story about a dying person... and so on. So you get my point.
On the other hand there are themes that are too restrictive, and mostly good for only one type of a genre or one type of a story. "Build a Dungeon" for example - even though, it would be cool to try making my own Dungeon Keeper-like game, it would be really boring having playing 2000 exactly the same games.
All I wanna say - CHOOSE WISELY.
So, I'm the opposite of a musician, but I would like to try to make my own music for a game. Do you have any suggestions for an easy music software? Something for action, ambient but sound effects as well.
Thanks :)
I would like to add my friend/follow him. I know my friend's name, but I can't find any search tab or anything to even find him.
(Sorry for my nooby question)
I can't event sleep from the hype my heart is experiencing right now. Tomorrow (at least for us Europeans) is going to be an epic moment in human history!
This time I'll be working with my mate Alan (@tvoritelalan).
We'll be using: - Adventure Game Studio (AGS) - Photoshop / Aseprite - Haven't decided which music SW yet. - Junkfood and lots of energy drinks
HAVE A GREAT TIME EVERYONE!
Short adventure game about a guy named Blaze who got shot in space by Space Pirates and was forced to land on the nearest planet. Unfortunately, part of ship's engine has dissapeared in the atmosphere, the fuel has depleted and navigation computer has short-circuited on him.
Now he has to figure out how to fix everything and leave the planet before Space Pirates find his whereabouts. It's not going to be that easy, because Blaze is a weak man and he can carry only two items at a time.

Hello guys,
We have finally managed to finish our little game. You can easily run out of inventory space, plus you are playing in a space-sci-fi world as well.
If you are a fan of old adventure games, you may like this one.
We used synthwave music to bring the spacey/retro/old adventure games atmosphere.

There are only two options for me: 1) My daughter is supposed to be born the very weekend LD takes place => I can't participate 2) If she isn't, I will have to be around my wife => I will have to take care of her, which means I will have very limited time.
I hope LD gods will stay by my side.
TL;DR:
Some people are taking this even way too seriously. LD has always been about the experience, not the score in the end. Don't dig too deep, or else everyone's fun will be ruined.
Is it me, or are there really the same themes in final rounds for like 2 years straight? Floating islands, Decay, Alchemy, Darkness is your friend, It's not a bug it's a feature, Control the environment, not the player... and many more.
