The Magic Workshop First Prototype

Hello there!

Recently I’ve made the first prototype for my game. It is very raw, but already playable. The idea is simple – you are alone in wizard’s workshop and try to survive and escape from magical chaos, which is going on here.

You can play it here: Itch.io Secret Link

Strange things are happening. It’s a start. :-)

The Magic Workshop Content Update

Many talks about the programmer’s art, but the graphics even worse and harder :) I have been involved in Compo for the first time, and for me it is a big challenge.

The Magic Workshop Is Ready

logo

I have done it. The Magic Workshop is ready for submission. I made much more than I expected (extended story, sounds and music), but core gameplay is quite simple. I planned to expand it, but ideas did not appear at proper time. Finally I can go to sleep.

You can try it here – https://konh.itch.io/the-magic-workshop.

Source code is available on GitHib – https://github.com/KonH/Ludum-Dare-37-Project.

I'm in!

Too late, but game concept looks simple (for beginning it always simple, heh).

First day progress

First playable version

I would like to share the intermediate results of the work done about 8-10 hours yesterday and today. Still it is necessary to make the interface and it is possible to be engaged in optimization, but the basic essence should be clear. What is done:

  • Infinite space with simple content generation
  • Stupid opponents
  • Funny art

What do you think about it?

Note: leaderboards are not working now, fix in progress >_<

Hopeless Space is out!

At this time, game is simple and done for ~18 hours by one person.

I'm in!

I miss some events in the past, but now I'm hoping to make a game.

Developer Story - Day 1 Progress

Today I have good progress. Tomorrow much more work is required, related to content and balance, but the concept is ready. In this game, you become a developer, improve your skills and find a dream job. Current gameplay is short but will be longer in next versions. Also, it contains some known issues, I hope I fix it before actual release. Developer Story is finished

It's a game about a developer, who wants to create his career and fight with stress, diseases, financial situation, and growing industry. Screenshot 2019-04-29 at 03.46.44.png https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/developer-story

Developer Story Reveals

In my project (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/developer-story) I fall into classical problem of development: biased attitude. When you play the game often, you can't decide wisely. In my case I underestimated difficulty level for fresh players. So, almost all people only see very basic parts of gameplay. But if you play further, you can be promoted to higher positions and see much more possibilities (like real life, yeah?):

1.png 2.png

I like that random events actually make gameplay deeper and adds replayability (they have some bugs in generation, but in common it works as expected): 3.png4.png

Also I found some minor bugs later (like sometimes incorrect study prices, changed in last hour), but I don't think that patches after actual development is finished is fine for jams (and I don't have mental power to do anything after last crunch weekend).

You can play the game and check results :)

P.S. I think that 'die in 16 without money and because of hearth attack or mind issues' is pretty accurate representation of our industry sometimes.
