THE WITCH OF ERAST – Now on Android

I made a game called “Trashterpiece” if anyone wants to give it a try!

Made this game for the Kongregate Jam.  It doesn’t work on their site though, so I’ve put it here, too.  It’s about being an art critic.  https://kingethaniel.itch.io/trashterpiece

Unity starter kits. Made for Ludum Dare.

This coming LD will be my second. This time I decided to do it with some friends in a team. Some of the people I’m working with have used Unity before but are LD newbs, and others have never seen a script in their lives. So I decided to make a set of basic things that loads of games use. Things like movement and level manager code and scripts. I was going to make them into exportables anyway so I decided why not make them public for all to use. So here they are!

The importables:

https://github.com/crabcrabcam/Unity-Importables

The Unity project they are going to be made in:

https://github.com/crabcrabcam/Unity-Importables-Project

These are open source and if you’d like to contribute then that would be great. I need some help picking a licence so if you know what I should use, please do tell me. I’ll be updating these over time.

Remember that these can’t be used in the Competition due to the rules over there but if you’re new to Unity and you’re wanting to do the Comp then you’re welcome to go download them or look at the sources and learn what they do. Each package will have it’s own level in the original project. Some might have other things too (The level manager for instance) but I will try and explain what you have to do to make them work for you in the README. You’re welcome to use the art too if you really think you can’t do better than me writing in the initials of the object 😛

Good luck to all, and happy gaming!

Why do you say “these can’t be used in the Competition due to the rules?”

I also though you wasn’t allowed to use any previous code, art, or whatever…

Programmer looking for artist or team to join for LD37

Hello I’m exciting to hopefully take part in this years LD. I’m a programmer working mostly in the Unreal 4 engine with c++ and blueprints.
I am fully capable to creating any kind of game rather it be a side scroller/fps/thirdperson/top-down I just need artist to help make original content.
I would love to join a team of artist/animators or assemble one for this game jam!

Here is a video of two recent projects I made for fun using Assets from the Unity store.
Third person Video

First Person Video

Please email at MichaelCosio88@gmail.com if you would like to work together!

Count me in

I have never done a Ludum Dare before because I wasn’t sure that I was up to the challenge.  So I will be participating in LD37, but not in the compo.  I will be teaming up with my friend in China via Skype to get as much done as we can.  While we are doing the Jam and not the Compo, we will be sticking as close to the compo rules as we can, just to see if we can do it.  Who knows, maybe we’ll each to the compo next time.

Good luck and remember not to take it too seriously. It’s way more fun when working with another person just to goof around while you make the game. It takes away pressure and leaves you with a much better memory of the experience, and in my opinion, makes the game better.

Im in

Decided not to save this for the new website (HYPE), but…. I’m in.

I’ll be using Unity, Blender, and Gimp. Also some tracker for music.

Seriously though. New website hype.

I’m in.

This will be my second LD.

I’ll mainly use Love2D and Notepad++.

I’m in.

Long time player, second time entrant.

Looking forward to it!

\o/ good luck, unlike my 3rd LD, that….was disaster!!So, good luck!!!

You’d better believe I’m in, for my 7th Ludum Dare

This will be my 7th Ludum Dare, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Going to be using the same toolchain that’s served me well in the past:

  • Unity 5 with Visual Studio,
  • Photoshop for graphics,
  • ChipTone for sound effects,
  • REAPER, and my iPad with sundry apps, for music.

As has become a bit of a trend over the past year or so, I’ve got a family commitment that’s going to take me out of town on the Sunday for 10-12 hours. For that reason, I’m certainly going to be entering the Jam.

Let’s do this!

I’m In! And looking for a team!

I am a programmer, and I’m looking for a team. I have done several ludum dares.

We’ll need graphics and audio artists. I can work with both 2D and 3D.

The ludum dare (and some miniLD) games I made alone: http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/gamedevextreme/
And I also made this one in a team(slightly incomplete due to a computer virus): http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-33/?action=preview&uid=3215

Needless to say the one in the team looks a lot better and sounds a lot better.

If you are a graphics or audio artist (or even a unity C# programmer)  and you want a team please comment here or on skype at n12i12r12 or email me at nir.shalmon00@gmail.com

Theme Suggestions

I think we’ve all gotten sick of the “Backwards” sort of suggestions, which are ironically probably the most common thing in the slaughter. And we’re sick of suggestions that are too meta.

I’m sorry if you see “Reversing the “Reversing the Paradigm” Paradigm” once the theme slaughter starts. That’s entirely my fault. Also Snowkittens.

Am I in? I don’t know. I’ve thought I was in for a lot of Ludum Dares but it’s never panned out. This time, I’m going to make a game before so I don’t have to relearn my engine of choice the day of.

You’re kinda contradicting yourself. If such themes are the most common thing, most people are not sick of them (assuming there is no big bias in people favoring these themes also posting more themes than those who sick of them). Also it’s not a good idea to speak for everybody.

If people vote for what they like, we could say that the theme we get is the most liked theme on the list.

Maybe most people are okay with these themes, but there seems to be a very loud group of people in the IRC channel that always hate all of the themes. I’ve almost never heard someone say they liked a theme, but then again, probably most of them don’t care enough.

I’m in!

In for yet another Ludum Dare!

Since my games are always pulled down and limited due to the fact that I can’t make art, I’d be happy to team up with an artist: Leave a comment and we can make something great for LD 37. :)
