Hey, I’m in!
I will probably be using slick 2d and java. *Plenty said*
Ps: my first Ludlum dare
I just woke up *yawn*
My game is going to be based around slimes,
you start small, get other blobs and grow,
the game gets harder because your more likely to drown in the water or be poped by a spike
I wont be posting a screenshot (yet)
beacause i really just have a powerful engine, but its not displaying anything yet.
I am using raw XNA (no libary’s) for the first time, but because i am good at making engines,
(i make engines whenever i start a new language) it should be easy to peice together a good game
Until submission,
BinaryBot coding out! 😀
Well, last time my game was so bad… it can only get better.
Last time i used visual basic, being a newb, and created an awfully glitchy, frozen, crashing, bugged…. game? Or program?
Anyways… I have learnt alot. I am up and running with python, (using the library pygame) and have gotten an IRL freind to teach me photoshop…
Things are getting better. What inspired me to python was the rasberry pi i got. (No, not the pie, pi, its a computer… google it) which has IDLE pre installed. Never know, i might even make a video of me making my game.
Good luck to all, and i hope im not going to fail *as bad* = )
My computer is freezing, and i have no idea how i am going to finish. My guy is walking through the sides of my program! Graphics is terrible, and shhing all my devices is so confusing! AHHH! This is so unbeliable. Im thinking of entering the jam, but i have school, so people get an advantage on me!lol… i am 11. who cares. *Me*
I have school tomorrow, everyone else doesn’t, everyone has a team, im alone, everyone is 46 with8 years programming experiance, im 11, with 3 years experiance. NOOOO. But i need an extra 5 hours, i dont care if i come 1784th :). Love this competiton. Anyway, im slowing into the jam… with alot of competition! Goodnight, its 10:43!!!
Yes, I am entering!
I have learned a lot since my previous entry (A lot!) and this time I will be submitting a game made with HTML5 and it’s standards!
These are my tools:
>>Sublime Text 2
>>Firefox
>>Gimp/Photoshop depending on theme
>>Some random music editing program [No idea!]
>>Most important tool – Google
Anyway, good luck too all participants!
BinaryBot.
Done! Timezones have me finishing early, but oh well.
Heres the games, its called…
Time Robbery
Heres the link: http://db.tt/kolBRinr
Heres the storyline, straight from the game:
You are a gaurd. But not an ordinary gaurd, a time gaurd. You protect the time bank from evil robots, who each steal 10
seconds from the bank, but come in large amounts. The robots are smart, and they got here before you arrived, but not
smart enough to know that you would show up while they were leaving the bank. So go, and stop the robots from making their way to
their teleporters, where you will never be able to recover the time again.
Each time you capture one of the evil robots, you gain 10 seconds of life, but be carful, as growing too old will leave you
slow, and getting to youngh gives you the risk of dieing with no life. Good luck, and play, before you run out of time!
Here are some screen shots:
Please don’t go too hard on me, as this is only my second Ludam Dare, and I am only 12 years old
Good luck too all entries still in progress, and be sure to leave a comment on my entry, stating how I could improve it! (Other than art, which just needs plain old time
)
BinaryBot.
I might enter. I dunno. I just found out it was on… just before.
Lets see what I can do…
I finally completed my lighting code!
Gee, that took alot of time! I could have spent the time on gameplay… or a menu, or enemies… oh well, it was fun
I probably wont finish, but I am glad I worked on it as I have learn’t alot.
Back to code.
Cya.
I barely have anything done, but if you would like to see what I produced using HTML5,
you can click here. (It should work on most of your amazing computers
): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86344875/LD%20unfinished/Demo.html
It has some nice lighting effects, except unfortunately I didn’t have time to make it less… laggy.
For those wondering you have to get the torch to light the fire, which would cause you to complete the level.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you all had fun entering.
Good luck to the jammers.
BinaryBot.
PS: Map gen from here:http://gamedevelopment.tutsplus.com/tutorials/cave-levels-cellular-automata–gamedev-9664 <-This was placeholder for map testing… another thing unfinished! This is a very good tutorial, check it out!
Thanks
Yesterday I achieved much more than any of my other jams.
It is programmer graphics, but I am impressed with my mechanic.
Can you guess what the mechanic is?

Cya later!
Good morning all,
I still havn’t made my levels, I will be doing that today. I’m sadly not going to have music, I just don’t have the skill and time right now
I think I need to make some things glow too, but I don’t know how to do that in unity. Anyway, here is a preview.

Hi everyone 😀
My game from this weekend is called Dodgy screen, because it is a game where the screen can only show you red green or blue platforms at once, and has a very limited battery life! It is currently a web and pc based game, (later there will be a mac version too.)
This is one of my first LD compos I have entered where I think I have a somwhat complete game, that is actully tricky and fun. It doesn’t have music, but it does have a few cool sound effects. Here’s a link to the game, and some screenshots.

Hi everyone!
This Ludum Dare compo I made dodgy screen, which was a lot better than any of the other games I have uploaded… by leaps and bounds. I actually looked at my old posts and laughed so hard, they are so silly
I was lucky to be able to participate in this, I really only found out it was on because I was randomly going through my bookmarks. And saw ludum dare was starting the next day! I came up with an idea pretty fast, which is that you can only see red, green, or blue things on the screen at once, hence, the ‘dodgy screen’. I started working in Unity, which was a breath of fresh air for me, coming from a year with C++ and SFML, trying to manage memory :). I had never worked with C# before, although I very quickly caught on coming from C++, I found alot was similar, and easier. Even the component design of Unity felt great. For sound, I used SFXR, which I made all the sound effects. I didn’t make music, I was thinking I might with sunvox, but I just didn’t have time. For the graphics, I used paint.net for the pixel art, which I liked, and a tad of photoshop here and there.
What went well:

What didn’t go so well:

Thanks everyone for an awesome Ludum Dare! It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve learnt heaps.

This is why I love Ludum Dare… Improvement. My scores are nothing to rave about, averaging about 2.5, so nothing flash, but much better than my previous entry. Last time I didn’t get told my scores, there really was no mechanic, and it was a boring game.
Left: LD31 Right: LD 27
Thanks for all your help guys, this community is also. I hanged out alot on IRC and you are all so helpful and friendly
I hadn’t made barely any games between these entries, but Ludum Dare has inspired me to make more.
Yet another I am in post.
I’m in!
I will either be using Haxe, with the amazing library haxeflixel, or, maybe, Unity. Probably Haxe, I learn a lot more programming wise, unity feels like it is just a bunch of code that looks like spaghetti with all it’s coupled code. If I spent time with Unity, I could probably get around that, but just using code with Haxe gives me as much freedom as I’d like.
Art: The amazing Pyxel Edit
Music: Autotracker or sunvox. I never get enough time for sunvox.
Sound FX: SFXR, or derivatives.
IDE: Sublime Text 3
Music: Spotify
etc etc. Anyone actually read these posts?
I made a bot that allows ludlum darers to go on an IRC channel and vote togethor! Every 20 seconds it gives you a theme, and you vote by saying vg ( or ‘vote good’), vb ( or ‘vote bad’ ) and vs (‘vote slaughter’). Join #LDVote on the irc server irc.afternet.org.
Warning: I have a real life, so bot is not on 24/7. I will try to run it as much as possible. The user ‘LDVOTE_Bot’ will be online if the bot is active.
Join today, while it’s online! 😀
EDIT: To get the theme people are currently voting for, type gt or get theme
Enjoy! 😀

Really? Haha. 😀
Silly themes:
-> A bit like E.T. the video game but not _ this time
-> First Person RPG with Sierra EGA Game Graphics
-> Frank Lloyd Wright (As a theme…?)
-> Three blind pigs
-> PIEEEEE
-> meow
I got these from my #LDVOTE irc channel. Check it out. VG to say the theme is good, VB to says it’s bad, and VS to vote to slaughter it. Bot tallies up votes every 15 seconds.

Thats about what I have so far. Not entirely happy with terrain tiles, but they do for now. Also, not sure how you will control/place your clones. At the moment, clicking is just temporary.
Opinions/Critic? Art style feedback?
Having a blast 😀
I was going to call this post “Hologram placement” but I think robot dance moves suits better… 😛

ill give it a shot
