October Challenge

Have a couple things that I can approach for this years October challnge

Been starting on a top down game, with some minor random map generation, somewhat like a rogue like, but more like an RPG with rogue elements. Going to build it with Phaser to give that engine more of a try.

Another thing is I could work on my LD29 game a bit more: http://projects.agmprojects.com/searchforhope. It’s something I would like to work on more, but i’ve held that off a bit as I’ve been working towards WebGL support in MelonJS.

Not sure which I’ll do yet, but new projects are always fun. Been a while since i’ve started one :)

I’m in

This will be my 8th ludum dare, yay! 7th to hopefully submit, as last one in the summer i lost motivation and wanted to continue on a bigger project I had already started. This time though I’ll actually put some thought into it and get something done.

Pretty much going to use my usual stack:

MelonJS HTML5 game engine.
Sublime text 3 to code
Pixelmator for art
My guitar and or garage band for music, cfxr for sound effects.

I’ll likely do the 48 hr compo, as I usually can’t seem to convince friends of mine to join me.

Game done, and submitted an hour early

Got the game done in time for the Compo deadline. When the theme came up, I somehow thought of the idea “Ninja with a Teddy Bear”. I wanted to create a top down game, so I put the ninja in a room where he has to take out enemies of some kind. The boss quickly became a little girl who wants the teddy, so she spawns enemies at you who will stun you after a short duration.

I think the only real downside is my art. I wish i could have done a higher quality title screen :). Check it out here, and give me some honest feedback: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-32/?action=preview&uid=15813

No idea yet, but gonna start

Had a work christmas party tonight, so im starting a few hours late. I know it’s not in rules anymore, but the code im starting with roughly from last week warmup: https://github.com/agmcleod/ld34-warmup. I’ll likely exclude box2d in the build, as i dont think i’ll need full physics.

Seeing a lot of great stuff here

Keep it up, and don’t sweat it :). Seeing a lot of impressive looking things so far. Carry on!
