So, I’m calling it good for tonight. When I was playing with the hitboxes, I noticed that the attack button totally made the player stick to walls, and that they could jump while in this position. Totally an accident, but I liked it. So, I left it in, and rewrote some of the less interesting puzzles to make use of that.

This is my second time ever making any sort of the game, and the first time doesn’t really count, because it was awful. Really awful. So far though, I’m not too horribly displeased with this! Actually… I think I kind of like it.

There’s not much to it, it’s a pretty basic platformer with a bit of surrealism.

I’ve been streaming this whole time, although up until now it hasn’t been very interesting, as I did most everything on paper. Whoops. It’ll pick a bit tomorrow, so that’ll be fun!

Babby’s Second LD!

I’m a lot less overwhelmed this time, haha.

I’m planning to use:

Goo Create or Twine

MilkyTracker (if I can figure the thing out!)

GIMP/Inkscape

Audacity

Not counting on anything else, but we will see…

What’s with all the spam posts?

Yikes.

Anyhow, I have made some small amount of progress! I decided on using Twine to make a little game where the goal is to escape from a flooding ocean base. There’s a lot of structural damage, so most of the paths that would otherwise have been there are blocked off. The idea is that you work your way through a maze of rooms, encountering obstacles that’ll vary depending on how much time I have to implement them.

Most of the rooms look kinda like this currently:

Though I did get the mechanics for stuff like drowning, flooding, and swimming to work all right.

The little HUD with the numbers won’t be in the final game, it’s just a debug thing. You’ll have to rely on the ‘you can’t hold your breath much longer’ type messages.

I’m in! But that’s not all…

This will be my first time participating as part of a team!

I’ve hooked up with petercraft as an artist (which let’s be real, is what I’m better at anyway!) I’m really excited that I’ll be able to take the time to focus on what I really enjoy, and I believe we will be able to make something super cool!

We're in!

I'll be entering the jam with a group of my pals over at Intira Enuart!

Most of them have never participated before, and I'm really hoping they end up liking it as much as I do! Each of them have their own setup, but I will personally be using:

Engine: Ren'py (hopefully!) Art: GIMP/Medibang Paint Sound: Audacity
