Joining in for the first time!

Hi there!

First time joining Ludum Dare, I never finished a video game project and it’s definitely not my speciality, but maybe the 48 hours compo will be the little push I need!

Language: Javascript

Images: Photoshop

Sounds/Music: Audacity and some instruments, I guess?

Have fun everyone!

If you’ve never finished a game before, you might be getting burned out from having to do all the work yourself in Javascript :] I recommend Clickteam Fusion, Game Maker, or Unity, which will all handle a lot of complex stuff like collision detection, animation, etc., so you don’t get bogged down and can focus on the fun part of game development.

First draft, first coffee break!

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all having a great time!

I thought I would start thinking about what I want to do while setting up the basics of the game, but I actually went ahead and coded a little more than that.
After two and a half hour, I’m still not sure what I’m doing, but it looks like an old roguelike, maybe a little inspired by Moria, a game from my childhood I remember fondly.

There’s a bunch of random obstacles, a player that can move and a door to get to the next level — hopefully — but not much to see for now!

Anyway, here’s a first look and I hope you like it!

on’t hesitate to come by and talk to me!

Thanks for reading and have fun!

and remember: stay hydrated!

Hello everyone, Andrea again, with a new screenshot!

sat-21h21m

I took a nap for a few hours this afternoon (the jam started at 3AM here in France so I was exhausted), but I’m back in the game.
I am amazed by some of the games you guys are creating, I really hope I will at least finish mine in time!

You can watch my stream here, every comments and remarks are welcome!

Thanks for reading and have fun everyone!

Tired, cold, but driven!

Yet another screenshot from the game I’m making! It’s very basic, I’m not very proud of it per say, but I’m proud to be making my first game, to be doing my first jam and to be part of something great!

Once again, you can see what I’m up to and give comments or pointers on twitch right here!

Thanks for the opportunity, and have fun!

Done for the day!

Hi everyone, I hope everything is going according to your plans — and that you have, in fact, plans!

Here’s one last screenshot before I go to sleep. It’s 7AM here and I haven’t been up so early on a Sunday since forever!

sun-06h57m

Tomorrow (well, later today), when I wake up, I’ll add sounds, fix some bugs and hopefully I’ll be done in time!

Good luck everyone, have fun and see you soon!

First jam, first video game made, first entry!

helloHi again everyone!

I’ve done my first jam, made my first video-game, made my first pixel art… and managed to submit it before the deadline, so to be honest, I’m kind of proud of myself!

You can play it here!

Thanks everyone and let’s get playing!

Andrea is in for a second time!

Hi everyone!

I’m in for the compo again this time!
I will be working with HTML/Javascript and possibly Audacity for the sounds and/or real instruments for the music!

Last time I had a problem with hitboxes and latency. I’ll try not to make the same mistakes as before, so I will focus on making a simpler game to have more time to test it and correct the eventual bugs!

I will also be streaming the entire process on Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited

Thank you for reading, and have fun everyone!

Third hour, third break!

And here’s what I’ve got so far!

output_34ukPk

I suppose it isn’t much, but I have the idea and the way it’s gonna look is practicaly set up, now I have to get to the core of the game!
Still broadcasting on Twitch too if anyone is interested: http://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited
How am I doing?

New graphics! Working gun!

Everything is going smoothly for now, though I’m starting to get very tired…

Still streaming on Twitch by the way!

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Starting over…

How do you go from here to there?

You start over after working 20 hours on a project, that’s how!

I felt I was going nowhere and I didn’t like the first gameplay impressions. I got a good night sleep and now I’m back!
This time I’m doing something inspired by the theme Harvest, with a little bit of Unconventional Weapon because I don’t want to miss out entirely!

Hopefully I’ll get to finish my game in time!

I’m getting out to get some sounds in the garden, but I’ll be streaming here when I get back.

Good luck for the next 12 hours everyone, and remember to stay hydrated!

All my hydration from the past 32 hours came from coffee. Surely that’s not a bad thing, right? 😀

12 hours mark!

Hi everyone!

Pfew, I’ve been working non-stop for 12 hours and I have to admit I’m feeling like it’s gonna be manageable this time!

Some simple art have been made, most of the physics… I’m gonna start adding some enemies soon!

I’m working on Notepad++, Clip Studio Paint and doing all of it from the top with Javascript and a little JQuery.

I’m also streaming here if you want to watch me work or give me some advice: http://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

Game Submitted!

Hi everyone!

I hope everything is going well for you and that those of you still working on their compo game will have enough time to finish!

I just submitted my game and am going to sleep forever!

Nearly done?

Hi everyone!

It’s my first post this time… I have to admit I haven’t been very focused on the jam, not sure why, and even though I made a very simple thing I am not sure I will have the courage to polish it.

The idea is that you have to move on a board and change shape using the spacebar to fit the tiles you’re stepping on.
There’s a score board and if you’re fast enough and finish the 4 levels, you can get on it!

Anyway, here’s a screenshot of what I got so far, and it’s testable here if anyone’s interested: http://dev.androidandrea.com/ld35/
I’m also available on Twitch for comments here: http://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited

6 hours and 30 minutes to go! Good luck and have fun everyone!

I'm in for the... 6th time!

Hi folks!

I'm in again, and I'm gonna be making a little game about the daily life of people with prosopagnosia (face-blindness)... Unless I change my mind one day in, like that one time!

I'm gonna be using HTML5/Javascript, as always, with Sublime Text for the code and CSP for the graphics.

You're welcome to watch me work on Twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited though I'll probably spend most of the day plotting my next move rather than coding anything!

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

and now, we code!

I've settled on my idea of a prosopagnosia (face-blindness) simulator, and drawn a sort of map of what I'm gonna do for the next two days.

Here's how it looks: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-AEJjDXcAANpzi.jpg

Now, let's code!

About 12 hours later...

I got something I'm kinda proud of!

I managed to add all the features I wanted for my game, a weird face-blindness simulator that will frustrate you at best, make you throw your computer through your window at worse.

Tomorrow I'll tweak some of the features, but mostly work on graphics and sounds to replace those awful placeholders!

Some screenshots, including a fanart of Supergirl because my streams are always kinda wtf: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-CrCL2XgAAzZNQ.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-CrDFYXkAI_2QH.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-CrEGhW0AEn6op.jpg

I hope you're having fun and you're not forgetting to get some rest!

See you tomorrow!

Let's Draw 41

I finished my game yesterday, way earlier than usual, but to be fair it's fairly simple. Then my friends and I spend the night playing it and it was hilarious!

It's a text-only... drawing game! You're supposed to either draw or guess what the other player is drawing, only using your keyboard (so ASCII art, basically).

It's pretty simple and straightforward but I'm happy with the result and I hope you'll like it too!

You can play it here: http://dev.androidandrea.com/ld41/ (as long as there are other players present) You can look at me streaming the game here: https://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited

Enjoy your sunday and have fun coding everyone!
