My Game so far

Screen Shot 2014-04-26 at 3.14.43 PMGame’s going pretty well so far, except for the fact that I can’t draw. I decided

to be extremely original and make a diving game, and I got most of the mechanics working. I still need to add enemies, collectibles,

and a proper scoring system. And a title screen. And make levels. And instructions. sigh…

Better get back to work…

I will do this!

3rd ludum dare. No more Java. Here’s what I’ll be using:

Language: Haxe, probably. Maybe clojurescript or javascript.

Art: Pixelmator

Level Design (if any): Tiled

Sound Effects: sfxr

Music: SunVox

Other stuff: ShoeBox

Im in for number 4!

Hi from China!

I’m in again using Love and lua. My goal this time is to better than last time in all categories. I think lua and Love will help me develop faster than either Java or Haxe, so I can focus more on art and design.

Coding: Sublime Text

Language: Love / Lua

Graphics: Pixelmator / Asesprite

Sound: Audacity, bfxr, SunVox

Fuel: 鸭肉手抓饼 = Duck Meat Sandwiches

Usually I have enough time for the 48 hour compo, but my schedule in China might force me to enter in the jam. Ah well.

That was close…

I really worked to the deadline this time. I got some thing finished for the compo, and it it turned out ok, but as I am working from Beijiing, the time is all screwy and real life gets in the way. Also, I was rather uninspired for the theme and based my game on the random doodles I made while brainstorming. I have again learned I am better at programming than I am at drawing, and better at drawing than I am at game design.

When I had a prospective 3 hours of work left, I was quite sure I would have to enter the Jam because I didn’t really know what the game was about. I somehow managed to make my game playable in a few hours in time for the Compo, partly because I’m dead tired and I don’t think another 24 hours would actually help me that much. Check it out and don’t hate to hard, here

One more day left

Ou game is going pretty well, but we still have a lot left to do, like turning it into a game instead of a goat simulator. Our game is WEREGOAT, which is not to be confused with WHEREGOAT or THEREGOAT. The artist is doing pre-rendered 3d graphics, which is actually working out. I’ve never done this before. I’m constantly drifting between completely demoralized when I can’t fix a bug and really hyped when I get new graphics from the artist.

As a programmer, working with an artist for the first time is a really cool experience. Art just shows up in google drive like presents. I have to really thank the artist (my brother) for helping me with the Jam, which I think is more fun than the compo. On the other hand, I’m pretty exhausted after 2 days and I’m jealous of all of the compo people. I want to play your games but I have to focus.

Day two done, here’s a dying weregoat.

Here’s another goat.
