BlackCode Studio is in!

Yes, our super-mega-awesome-mindblowing group is in!

This will be our first try in Ludum Dare, I hope we’ll finish our game :)

We’ll use:

  • Game Maker 8
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • GIMP (see * :P)
  • FL Studio
  • CREATIVITY lol

* (yes, that’s the ” * ” I was talking about) Unfortunately, my PC broke few days ago, so I’ll have to use my crappy netbook with 1.66GHz CPU ;_;

Powodzenia. ^^

NoNameYet Progress! :D

Yeah, our game is slowly being shaped into something :)

Graphics are terrible because we are still working on placeholders, real graphics will be added tommorow.

[ sorry for my English, I know it isn’t perfect :) ]

yes, these are placeholders

A car thrown by the “good guy” (pink placeholder :P) to the player (black placeholder).

i hope you don’t change the graphics, cuz they’re adorable.

Superhero Defeated progress!

Made new graphics, timer, cats and goats.  1goat

Killing cat gives you 50 points, killing goat gives 100 points.

Killing cat gives you 50 points, killing goat gives 100 points.

Superhero Defeated! – more progress!

Yup, I’ve just finished adding background with parallax scrolling made by my friend and added some simple SFXR sounds (music will be added tommorow). There are now more buildings in the background (they are different from each other).

ToDo:

  • Winning and losing the game
  • Menu
  • “Animal Hunter” game mode (if I’ll have time :P)
  • More obstacles
  • Powerups
  • More superheroes to defeat (I don’t know if I’ll be able to do something creative here, but we’ll see :))

Screenshot:

yes it is

Parallax scrolling!

Enough for today :P

Okay, that’s enough for today :)
There are only few things to do tommorow so we’ll probably finish the game :)

Boxley.

More progress!

boxley_screenshot2

6 hours after the theme was shown, we’ve created:

  • Most of the physics engine,
  • Map editor (actually it’s a modified editor from our other game)
  • Most graphics c:

I can’t tell you what will it be about, because we haven’t yet finished writing plot, but there will be enemies, boxes and awesomeness. We’ll have to think about a name for it. The protagonist’s name will probably be Boxley (thanks to CosmicCatStudio for the idea!).

Now, after 6 hours of programming, it’s time for a break 😉

By what you showed us, it looks great, and you have made me want to play the game.

You made a great use of the minimalistic theme, including the graphics, and also the graphics are pretty nice.

Great job for your progress until now, and I hope the sequel will be as good as it looks now.

Good luck (:

Boxley – even more progress!

BOXLEY

We aren’t really close to release yet, but:

  • Collisions are fixed,
  • Coins added,
  • Animation engine nearly working,
  • Started working on enemies,

Also, I’ve made this logo which you can see above ^^

BlackCode Studio is in!

awesome logo here

Yup, BlackCode is in! It’s our 3rd time participating in compo 😉 This time we’re going to do some more planning than before (last time we were thinking about an idea for only about 15 minutes).

Tools we’re going to use:

  • IDE – CodeBlocks
  • Language – C++ with SFML 2.0
  • Engine – if theme will fit, we’ll use our own engine – Warp
  • Graphics – Photoshop
  • Music – FL Studio
  • Sounds – SFXR, Audacity
  • Communication – Skype
  • Food – TOASTS! (btw, need to buy more ketchup ’cause I don’t have any :v)

We’re also going to make a timelapse of everything 😉

Good luck!

Some info and a screenshot!

I just want to share with you what have we done until now.

Basically our game is sort of a “minigame pack” where you have to do things before the time runs out. Graphics are static (like the whole level is made of screenshots). We’ve written a small command handling engine, which we can use to create levels the easiest possible way:

changebackground 1_06.png end

flash 25 255 255 255 end

wait 500 end

changebackground 2_02.png end

waitkeyboard w end

flash 6 255 255 255 end

Also, here’s a screenshot :3

The Unbelievable Adventures of Kamil the Cat submitted!

TUAOKTC Logo

Yeah, we’ve finally submitted our game. As always I think we could have done it 5x better ^^

We had a lot of fun creating this and I’m proud to finally publish it :)

Time for some credits!:

  • Kacper “kacperski1” Herchel – Coding, Graphics & Sounds
  • Maciej “MacronCPP” Ziółkowski – Coding & Graphics
  • Grzegorz “zabujca405” Bąkowski – Music
  • Arkadiusz “Victorion9” Victor – Sounds
  • Łukasz “Pecia” Pecia – Nothing really

Ooh, and the download link! Here it is – http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=17819

Things that went good:

  • We finished it somehow!
  • We had fun!
  • We learnt a lot!

And things that went not-so-good:

  • We didn’t make as long as we wanted to!
  • We were distracting ourselves from work too often!

That’s all I think. Happy Ludum Dare guys!

(oh, and grab that link once again – http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=17819 )

Making some progress…

LD28_proj

A screenshot of current progress. The game is not named yet (but MacronCPP suggests to name it “Nijak”). I’m afraid that we won’t be able to finish it, but we’ll try! :)

Some more progress

ld28_newscrYes, we’ve added choice system so you can decide what do you want to do. It’s almost 2 AM where I am, so I’m going to go to bed right now, good night everyone! :)

BlackCode is in!

cropped-bcs_logo_white

Exactly. BlackCode is in again, and this time we hope to finish our project (oh, poor Nijak, people are never going to see you :c). Anyway, we’re working in our casual team:

  • Programming – Kacper “kacperski1” Herchel, Maciej “MacronCPP” Ziółkowski,
  • Graphics – Weronika “Orisagi” Grabowska (awesome hand-drawn), Kacper “kacperski1” Herchel (poor pixelart and vector art like in Kamil the Cat games),
  • Music – Grzegorz “zabujca405” Bąkowski,
  • Sound – Arkadiusz “Victorion999” Victor, Kacper “kacperski1” Herchel

And the apps and other things we are going to use:

  • C++, Code::Blocks, SFML 2.1 for programming stuff,
  • Photoshop and PaintTool SAI for graphics,
  • Audacity for sound,
  • Microsoft Paint for placeholders,
  • Skype for communication,
  • Chronolapse for the timelapse.

But Ludum Dare Jam starts at 4 AM… so what to do until this time? Well, for sure we won’t sleep – we’re going to play some games all night! These include Worms Armageddon a.k.a. BEST MULTIPLAYER GAME EVER and Left 4 Dead 2 :I

That's Worms World Party actually, but hey, it's similar D:

Good luck everyone, happy ludumdaring!

Case of…/Cases/Whatever – awesome gif showing what’s done

Well, not really. We have finished whole system behind the game (which is about solving a murder mystery) – I mean you can talk to all the people, ask them questions about where were they etc, but all of these things are made in text-only mode and are yet to be modified to work with graphical version of the game.

But we do already have walking character (he is not really finished yet although) on a few awesome backgrounds.

It’s much smoother in-game :)

“Cases” progress!

Moar shots from our game! This time it’s not a gif, but you can clearly see the awesomeness emanating from it!

These people... they seem suspicious...

BlackCode Studio is in!

bcs_invert

Yes, another time the creators of The Unbelievable Adventures of Kamil the Cat, Kamil the Cat’s Unbelievable Party, Simplified, Cases and the upcoming Kamil the Cat 2 (check our new website for more info) are in! And we are very modest, why would you even think that we’re not!?

But this time we have a planned a little challenge. I mean me and Macron.

fightI’m 100% aware that doesn’t even look like they’re fighting.

Yes, we’ll create 2 separate games. Maybe even for the Compo instead of Jam, but it depends if 2 days are enough. Anyway, the tradition says that now I should write down what software are we going to use, so let’s do that:

  • Language – C++
  • Engine – SFML 2.1
  • Art – Photoshop, Inkscape, Paint (for placeholders)
  • Animation – Flash, Anime Studio
  • Sounds & Music – FL Studio, Audacity, SFXR

And other things: (this applies to me, I have no idea what Macron’s gonna listen to/eat/drink)

  • Listening to – System of a Down, Kontrust (using the best player available – AIMP3)
  • Eating – toasts, instant soups, some normal food for dinner
  • Drinking – Dr Pepper

Anyway, I’d like to say good luck to everyone participating in the 30th Ludum Dare :) (zwłaszcza Polakom – do boju! :D)

Have fun guys!
