Making progress

I have some  of the basics working. my game will be a puzzle game of sorts. In order to solve puzzles, you will have to gather information from 2 different versions of the world. Mechanics are showing promise thus far (meaning I can make words show up in my debug.log!) and I’m getting kind of excited!

First solo LD, let’s see how this goes!

Using Unity 4, photoshop and a wacom tablet as needed. I have no plan, I have a rough idea for my game written out and a photo shoot that will take up most of my day tomorrow. Here we go!

PhotoWorlds LD48 Solo progress

My entry for the solo competition is Photo Worlds. In PhotoWorlds you have to solve puzzles using a camera to reveal the true nature of the world in which you reside. Taking photos of the world will show you clues on solving the puzzle but you have a limited number of snapshots available per world.

I have the basic mechanic in place as of now (photographing objects in the world allow you to view an alternate texture when you look at the resulting photo). I’m not sure that I will have time to complete the puzzle aspect, unfortunately, but the process has been a lot of fun and I will be continuing development after the competition.

LD 44

Quest for a home

I knew I was going to be quite limited on time for this LD and I wanted to get my 12 year old son involved in LD so we attended a meetup on Friday night and had a nice time while we got started on our concept. He actually came up with the idea that the main character would be a homeless person trying to get food. We worked on the idea and decided that the player would have 7 days to help turn the homeless person's life around.

The player has to make decisions, do work for people in exchange for food and items (which can be traded for food) or conserve energy by passing on work or doing it poorly (while hopefully not angering the local people).

While we did not finish, most of the systems are functional, you can actually play through the entire week and do jobs each day. I did not have time to get much in the way of art into the game, there were also plans for the player to meet a dog, adding another way for the player to spend precious food (or not, you evil person!). I am planning on adding in the base systems and probably throwing a little artwork at the game just to button it up. Another day or so and I would have release it as complete.

Thank you for reading this and I hope you check out our little game. We had a lot of fun getting it this far!
