His name is Dodger because he dodges.  Game Maker doesn’t want to draw  Dodger correctly.  It’s probably something easy to fix, but for the life of me I can’t figure it out.    He is tiny and this should be trivial for Game Maker, but Game Maker is a jerkbutt.  This is my fault of course, because I haven’t given any blood for the Blood God.

You are a contestant on the intergalactic game show “Non-Energy Based Lifeforms Dodge the Boagies!”.  It beams down live from G’Ngengulon IV and it’s broadcast on IDTV (Interdimensional Televsion) for the entertainment of Ascended Beings all throughout the galaxy.  It’s on tv,  a poor attempt on my part to not interpret the theme too literally. This is a Boagie.  They are primitive energy based creatures that annihilate upon contact with matter.  If they getcha, you die in the ensuing explosion.  The mechanics are coming along nicely and are mostly done.  I spent a little too much time worrying about every tiny detail with them and as a result I haven’t spent much time actually building the game part of the game.  NOW TIME FOR MORE COFFEE

Making menus is BO-RING.   I kept putting it off, and I hope it doesn’t bite me in the butt.  My hats off to those of you out there and do this stuff for a living. Also here’s a screeny

Well, it’s submitted,  http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=28080.   Please and Thank You.   I fixed what could easily be fixed, and tore my hair out trying to fix what couldn’t easily be fixed.  It’s not as pretty as I liked, and I wasn’t able to pull off the theme as well as I would have liked but it’s playable and that’s gonna have to do for now.    (PS, the “one screen” is supposed to be a television tuned into an Intergalactic television network.)  Try as I might, I couldn’t get shaders to work for that CRT 80s television aesthetic, but whatever.    I had fun, but need to work on my time management skills for sure.

Anyways, can’t wait to start checking out everyone else’s totes awesome games!  Thanks!
