Oo Pick Me, Pick Me…

This’ll be my first game creation competition and I’ll be using Scirra’s Construct 2 for all my game creation needs.  Gonna try this solo, so DARE I say…I’m in?

I’m in!

The last LD was my first try and I had a blast, although my work schedule meant I only had half the time.  But I’ve booked the time off work, I’m more familar with Construct 2 (my weapon of choice for development), and I’m ready to build something!!  So yeah, I’m definitely in!

Slime Buster Micro – up and running

So here’s my second attempt at Ludum Dare.  There weren’t enough energy drinks to keep me going as long as I needed to to get this the way I wanted it, so we’ll just have to settle for how it is now lol.  My apologize for any dropping framerates our there, my next goal is to learn more about configuring games for framerate issues.

Here’s my entry for anyone who’d like to play/rate it.  Any feedback is completely welcome. :)

A quick question!

Are tweaks to entries that are purely for performance allowed after submission? Or is that a no no? I seem to recall being allowed to make performance tweaks last time, but I’m not sure.

I don’t think so. If people did it last time, they probably weren’t supposed to. It’s mostly on the honor system anyway, but I think it’s most fair to freeze all development after submission.

Allowed after the compo ends is fixing of fatal crash bugs that render the game unplayable (to some people) and the porting to different platforms. Performance tweaks are crossing the line, IMO.

Just add a link to a “post-compo” version.

Sounds good to me, thanks everyone!

My personal thoughts would be to fix it if it is game breakingly bad (ie. performance slows to unplayable frame rates or game freezes briefly), but not if all you’re doing is tweaking an already playable game.

I’m In!!

Hey all, this is be my third Ludum Dare both overall, and in a row. I love competing, the energy drinks, the lack of sleep, and the eye rolling of friends and family that don’t get it are all crazy exciting to me!! I’ll once again be using Construct 2 as my platform, which makes use of Javascript and HTML5. My graphics are produced in the Construct Classic image editor, SFX care of the incredible BFXR, (unless I decide to go non 8-bit, in which case I always record my own foly), and music is produced in FL Studio. Let the games begin… (see what I did there?? as if no one else has ever said it before…)

Here’s what you get from me this time…

So here it is, can’t say I’m happy or proud of it, but here it is. At least it looks and sounds pretty lol
It was originally going to be a cross between Pokemon and Street Fighter II, it wound up just being a clone of Street Fighter II, and not a great one lol, but otherwise, enjoy!
