What I learned at Ludum Dare

I am not a beginner at programming. I am pretty decent at it in fact. But I have never completed a game before. Which does not mean that I never programmed one. I made dozens of unfinished games. But after Ludum Dare I can proudly say that I now have one, more or less, finished game. It did not turn out like I wanted it to be. It should be a puzzle game about rotating the building you are in. Over time it become a sort of puzzle jump and run game. What I really learned here was, that you can say what your game is and programm it like that, but you cant really controll what it turns into when someone plays it. My ideas were fun (to me) and pretty solid. It took just one person to show me, that a simple idea could provoke a glitch. Normally I am really good at making something stable. I at least thought that. I have a lot to learn, yet I am proud of what I did. Even if it didnt turn out like I wanted it to be. But it was my first Jam, so thats ok :)

Rating time!

I just woke up and because today is May first we here in good old germany dont have to go to work (its a holiday). So what am I going to do with the time I got? I could play some Bloodborne or Mass Effect. Or I could just play hundreds of different games here on Ludum Dare. I think I will stay with that. If you want to check my game out:

If you want me to play your game leave a comment under my game. I am most likely to find it there.

Thought I had still more time

Well... It seems like I miscalculated the beginning of LD this time :D I thought it would begin tommorow for some reason. Well, that means a lot of work. Just posting this for hope of nice comments :D

Just some strings...

Thats what you might think when you think of a dialogue (or not, because you are clever). I tried to write a script to manage some dialogue and wasted about 90 Minutes writing it and like 3-4 hours repairing it. I dont know if I am just tired, but it was very hard to fix it. And since I clearly had nothing better to do, I thought to myself "Why not make an editor for it, so it is simpler for me to reuse!" So that took another 30 minutes. But it is done and I am so happy for that. That is what I really love about Gamejams. The experience you get. I am really thankfull for this, but I still wished I wouldnt have had to fix it :D

My Editor:Editor.png Looking at it, I should rework the names, since they dont really tell what is happening. But... Whatever. I am making a break now. Have fun working :)

Not what I wanted, but...

First: Thanks for reading a clickbaity title ^^ Second: I dont know why, but I am not really happy with the game, but I have to say it is still better having it, than not having it at all. I still like it, although it might have weird hitbox issues or unintuitive controlls. Its still one of my children... I guess :D I would be really happy if someone would play it and would leave a comment. I am always thankfull for Constructive criticism. See ya :)

Final buggy release (I guess)

I had fun the last 3 events I joined. I cant really do anything great this time though, due to other stuff I have to do. But I still uploaded a small game for everyone to play. Dont feel forced to rate it. It is just a small game and I just wanted to submit something. So, to everyone who is still programming: Have some nice 2 days. I will come back on monday/tuesday to rate some games, so maybe leave a link :) Have a great time
