"eucalyptus" is a game about MEMORY LOSS (that we hope to actually finish building one day)
first game jam! what a rollercoaster! we spent 2.7 days telling everyone it was totally possible for two human beings to create a 7-day open-world RPG with branching dialogue, time-sensitive inventory mechanics, and an unlockable ending with nearly infinite variability depending on the player's path. it's very cute that we thought this for 2.7 days
ironically, we have NO MEMORY of the last 0.3 days
this is what our bathroom mirror looks like now for some reason though

anyways uh yeah take a look!!!! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/$300132
We didn't even realize LD was happening till 2 hours after it started :O We quickly hopped on in hopes of not making the same scope creep (and a heap of delaying content integration) mistakes as last time.
Really happy with where we landed, mechanics work well in paper prototype (rolling dice is fun) and we cut all the not must-haves as stretch goals, gonna focus on a full and playable game that we can add all our fun silly ideas to later!
Good luck everyone <3
Here's a pretty accurate transcript of the conversation we had Friday afternoon -
Alex: The theme is harvest.
Ellie: Okay, obviously we can't just do Farmville.
Alex: Obviously.
Ellie: But I don't want to spend all our time over-analyzing the theme.
Alex: Smart.
Ellie: What else could one harvest...
Alex: Organs?
Ellie: Organs.
And thus, we set out to make a game about organ harvest that wasn't actually too gross or upsetting. The game we ended up building is actually weirdly soothing? And honestly, super good edutainment about blood type compatibility.

Things we felt like experimenting with this time around... - Retro video game art - Using probability to determine outcomes, RPG-style - Lightweight but satisfying NPC dialogue - Procedural animation
We hope you enjoy!!
