Taking part for the first time, excited.

Not yet sure about the tooling really. Either libGDX or one of the popular Haxe/JS Frameworks.

Maybe SunVox for BGM (if any), Audacity + microphone for SFX.

Gimp and Blender for artwork.

Will probably crash and burn but am really looking forward to trying this.

Have a good one everybody!

End of Day 1

Spending the first half of the day outside and the other half getting into a framework I have never used wasn’t such a bright idea but at least I got a few sprites moving and some ambient sounds going.

Settled on Phaser.io as everybody was raving about it. Crafty next time maybe?

As far as first entries go this one is not completely derailed just yet but maybe I can find a few more ways to sabotage it tomorrow.

Hopefully I will have something playable up before noon (and pictures before that if I can get those shaders going).

Here we go again

Got some sleep and am ready to go again!

A lot of people are posting interesting concept art and even finished games already so the pressure is on.

I still don’t know how people manage to film an entire season of Game of Thrones in one day but they seem very eager to tell us about it in their blog posts (with helpful links of course, and viruses)

As promised yesterday, first order of the day are a few screenshots and by mid-day hopefully a playable prototype.

Forgot

Oh right, am doing a screencap of today as well. Most of it will be me browsing the phaser.io documentation..

Also some more info about my setup:

Scaffolding comes via this phaser.io template which is a Phaser.IO template based on grunt/coffeesript.

My IDE of choice for JS/Coffeescript is Jetbrains Webstorm 8

.. a few hours later:

Well this was the plan.. Phaser.io tiles will not do my bidding so I am probably abandoning it.

Maybe there is enough time for a rewrite in some framework with better documentation?

I’ve been doing the jam with Phaser and while it’s a good framework I tend to find myself missing AS3 and Flixel’s more… structured-ness. /random

Rewrite

Not giving up just jet!

sbt is bootstrapping a scala libGDX project as we speak.

IntelliJ has replaced Webstorm as IDE.

The reason I did initially not go with libGDX (which I am more comfortable with than phaser.io) was the worry about the HTML5 backend which seemed to have not received much love recently.

If it doesn’t work properly anymore you guys will have to do with native applications, sorry about that.

Now let’s explore what this all new libGDX 1.0.0 can do!
