Testing the waters

Testing out some waters here; I’ve always wanted to partake in LD, but I’ve chickened out due to time constraints and such. This time I thought I’d just go for it to see what it really takes, so I can be better prepared for the upcoming ones. I know I’m a bit short on time this weekend, but at least this gives me a chance to take a look into how much doing a game jam on your own really takes.

I really liked the theme section this time around so I got to push myself to try this out. Who knows, maybe I’ll come up with something decent in three-ish days anyway. Will be trying to cook something up with Unity.

If I fail spectacularly, at least I’m better prepared for the upcoming LDs :)

Light my (imagination on) fire?

So, I was expecting another theme to win, since I was betting on using “One Room” as a secondary theme. Now I’m a bit unsure of what to do. Though I know I wanted a first person game with some simple 3D models around, so I went ahead and wrote the basics of movement and such.

This is all kinds of silly. I really hope I can come up with a game idea around this thing. I should’ve prepared proper 😀

LD 40

Let's do this! (?)

Hopefully I can cook up something this year considering my last two attempts to participate were a failure :D

Should have a sensible theme and still have some time to get my idea done. I guess an annual December LD is becoming a thing for me (vs. every LD).

Compo? No. Jam? Maybe not.

As fate would have it, having your main loops be incoherent messes during the important hours of the compo. I wasn't too crazy on the idea of losing sleep, either :)

I have no clue what kind of a monster I have on my hands, but I'll do my best to wrap it up the following weeks in the original scope (that is still compo-manageable, I just couldn't do it this time around).

Glad to have been flexing my skills once again. I really need to do this more often.

Hopefully I'll see someone around when I have wrapped this game up.
