LD36

“Allan” Post-Jam

Three years ago, I saw the Commodore 64 port of “Thunder Blade” and its top-down parallax.
For the Ludum Dare 31, I have tried raytraced shadows.
For the 35th, I have decided to mix both into a simple action game “The Infiltrator” that I did not manage to finish in time…

With this frustration in mind, I have participated to the 36th edition of the Ludum Dare and I now present…

“ALLAN”!

An action and adventure game in an almost 3D environment with shadows, darkness, shadows, blackness, and a little more shadows.
Made with only a few pixels, for lovers of old computers and old consoles and for curious people.

It is my 6th Ludum Dare, and I think this is the first time I wish to go one, to work and develop more my game.
I would love to create a bigger game on the same principles (with more items, monsters and puzzles, of course).
Maybe try the steam greenlight? I do not know

Please, play my game and tell me what do you think. : O
I hope you will enjoy it.

"Allan", my Ludum Dare 36 game soon on Steam

Hello!

I'm Damdoshi, Hanged Bunny Studio's only member. x)

It was almost 5 years ago, before the "Ancien Technology" jam. I was inspired by the C64 version of Thunder Blade and had decided to create "Depth", an engine pixelart/3D engine with raytraced shadows. My failed attempt for LD35 "The infiltrator" was using it (in 64x64 pixels) and... "Allan", for LD36 was using it, and it was nice.

It looked like this at that time: allan_old.jpg http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-36/?action=preview&uid=45212

Of course, I immediately have wished to make a wider game with that concept, but I was working on another game (Melordandek) and had to finish it before starting something else. Today, I still wish to make it, but I thought it would be nice to use that one I already got...

So, in a few days, I'm gonna release a polished and extended version of Allan on Steam. The objective is still the same: reaching the ancien (but precious) technology hidden in the laboratory, but with improved graphics and sounds, more movement, more opponents, additional levels, secrets and 5 settings of difficulty.

Trailer and description on its future steam page! = ) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1553530/Allan/

I'm a programming teacher by the way and for the next LD, my students are gonna play with us. I hope the atmosphere is still as nice and warm as before = ) It's gonna be their first jam and for some of them, their first video game played by someone else.

My proposed themes are:

Let them fight each other

No attack only send back

Accellerate

I'm not sure about the way I have written the 2nd. x')

Allan is released

Hello,

Five years ago, during Ludum Dare 36, I've realized an "Ancient Technology" themed game.

It was a short dungeon/action game with a very specific look.

I have improved it, enforce its ambiance by programming normal maps, recording sound effects and create a more atmospheric music. I have added several levels, challenging the player with harder puzzle and harder ennemies. Five difficulty modes are now available.

It is on Steam since March 24th.

Will you dare look at that trailer, and try the game? :p Be ready to crawl in rust and lightning.

Well, time to give up and rest x')

It was a short participation for me. I have started this morning, and as I work tomorrow, I've got to stop...

I've tried to use an old 3D engine I have made last year for a convention where I was demonstrating how to make full 3D game from pixel setting and maths... Well, it seems it was a little too optimistic to use it in a jam.

And right now, because of all theses tests I've made on that game, I have motion sickness.

I'm still gonna publish it, even if... well... :p It's not done. Because I still want to participate and test people's game.
