LD30

There’s a first time for everything, so they say…

Been designing for about a year or 2, but this is my very first LD. So I’m really looking forward to a challenge. Be sure to follow my progress over on my Twitter page.

Tools being used :

Engine :    Unity v4.1

Language :    UnityScript (Javascript)

IDE :    Monodevelop

Art :   Paint.net + Gimp 2.0

Timekeeping/Organisation :   Trello (https://trello.com/)

Music and Sound :  Audacity + Some random Synth plugins.

Good luck to everyone!

Things are going well so far.

Started a bit late as an earlier idea seemed too far from the actual theme itself.

The game so far is a Space exploration type of game, where you must light beacons on each world, to reignite the “Spirit of the Sky”. To do this you must travel to each Planet in the Solar system and then disembark your ship in a 2D Platforming section, where you traverse obstacles to light a beacon.

Game mechanics are about 70% done. Don’t know if I’ll get done in time though….

Missed out on making LD48, but I’m heading for LD30!

So I ran out of time but I’ve decided I’m going to keep going ad try and finish the game for LD30. I’ve been working on Geometric designs for the Platforming sections, which are looking quite pretty.

Basically the story is, each Planet has a beacon you must activate to save the Planet. Planets can be visited in a Ship through an “Overworld” like galaxy view( eg Star control 2). When all 4 planets are brought back to Life, the Sun’s Spirit is re-awakened.

I was late. But I’ve done all I could.

I started a day late but I managed to actually (somewhat) finish something! I made a game called “Stage Invaders” where you play an 80’s hair metal star fighting off Punks who are invading the stage. Of course your Weapon would be your guitar too! You use Power chords and Guitar solos to fen them off!

It’s pretty much endless and merely a matter of time before they completely invade the stage as it scales in difficulty. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to add any sounds or music, which I would consider a massive loss for my jam. So I recommend putting on your favourite Rock/Metal album while you play.

It was a lot of Fun to make and I’m glad I actually made the deadline this time around!

I’ll be uploaded it to my Itchio which you can find here! : http://toothandclaw.itch.io/

LD36

Started late.

Started late as I was a little busy over the weekend. But making some good progress. Game has simple mechanics that are mainly just plain interactions with objects (push, pull etc). Focusing mainly on exploration with a hint of platforming in there too. Here’s a gif of a strange temple off in the distance.

More screenshots to come as I finish this over the course of today.

Complete. “Valley of the Moon” is done.

Well, I didn’t make the compo but managed to scrape my way into the Jam. The game is currently windows only. The source will be going up tomorrow cos my internet is just too damn slow. Hopefully I don’t get kicked out for doing that but it can’t be helped. Source is 100mb + and I can’t upload it here. Anyway, Jam was sort of a success. Made a weird game about temples and finding relics and flying to the moon and a big Ancient golden ship.

Tools used : Unity 3D, Sublime IDE, Audacity, Paint.net, Bfxr.
