We've already received some great feedback from you all, but we could always use more! We plan to finish this game and release a full version of it, so thoughts, feedback, ideas are all welcome! Thanks!
A video from when we were developing the game: https://youtu.be/MkVduRbMAAY
We're working on this game post-dare to create a full game from it. Right now you can try out 4 levels. Please take a look and give us feedback on how we can improve!

Controls are simple, arrow keys. Can you beat level 4 without dying?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/get-to-the-airlock
In case you haven't tried it yet, we've been getting some great feedback and plan to make a complete game from this dare project. We could use your feedback to get there!

thanks to everyone who've given us great feedback so far! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/get-to-the-airlock
we're going to finish the game and release a fully-featured version with 20+ levels!
See if you can beat the 4th level :)
This classic style platformer has a major twist... your success depends on your hallucinations.
As you consume mushrooms, your hallucinations become more intense and weird, ans so does the music! Watch out though, too many and your imagination may turn violent. Can you beat all 4 levels?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/descent-into-madness-1
We wanted to bring you all an easier way to enjoy our game, so now it's available for play via browser!
Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/descent-into-madness-1
Web Version: https://alienairship.com/bin/DiMHTML/ (tested on current chrome build, not sure about other browsers, so if it acts weirder than usual try the downloadable one!).
ATTACK! OF THE UNSTABLE LIFEFORM.
Somewhere in a secluded valley, a dangerously unstable lifeform known as The Chaos Spore has escaped from the secret research facility where it was contained! It is up to the humans to defend the valley and cleanse it of this menace before it takes over the village; the last barrier preventing its global spread, and the doom of humankind.
Hybrid Multiplayer: While each level is played solo against the AI; the outcome of this struggle for survival is contributed to by all players! Each won/lost zone is updated for ALL PLAYERS who play the game.
Controls: Movement: W A S D Action: LClick Mouse or Spacebar
Choose a team: Chaos Spore: Slink and slither across the land, infesting everything in your wake. LClick/Spacebar to leap towards the red circle indicator to kill humans before they can spray you. Human: LClick/Spacebar to hose down the entire area to cleanse The Chaos Spores from existence. Watch out though, the spores can leap at you if you wander into their field of vision.
Which team will you choose? Recruit others to help you take over the map for your team and win the round!

Suddenly you wake up. Alarms blaring, lights flashing… something’s gone terribly wrong with your ship while you were in cryosleep! You’re barreling out of control towards a nearby star, and it’s up to you to prevent disaster.
In Solar Drift, you play a civilian passenger, awakened unexpectedly to a dead crew and a ship in serious trouble. Investigate your surroundings, and find a way to prevent certain doom. In this faulty state, the ship’s systems are resetting every 10 seconds, causing gravity to fail, and power to shut down for 10 seconds. As the game progresses, the ship’s hull temperature increases as the star draws ever closer. Your goal is to regain control by disabling various failsafes and fixing broken equipment.
Can you restore control before all is lost?!
this was the smoothest dare we've done to date! Hope you all enjoy. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/$299192
If you haven't yet, that's okay... here's your chance! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/solar-drift
This one took some long nights, but it's finally done.

We really enjoyed making it, now you can enjoy playing it here!: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/mothers-day-rush

We're making some decent progress but javascript has been a big thorn in our dev's side. Still, should have something at the end!
tried to embed but I think it failed.

Our game was a little too ambitious (my fault) and we didn't have time to implement all the mutations.

See, the idea was in addition to surviving the night, the player could also gain special abilities based on which type of tiny creature they killed. This would change the player's appearance while the boost is active. 3 movement powerups, 3 combat powerups, only 1 of each type could be equipped at a time (ambitious!).
To accomplish this, I thought i'd try my hand at rigging the character in blender as a bunch of separate pieces that could be turned off or on... I'm not great at this part, but I made this abomination.

It was very confusing to animate, and thanks to Blender's ABSOLUTELY STUPID FAKE USER FEATURES (sorry, my blood boils just thinking about it) I had to re-do the animations several times.
For those who don't know, this little icon MUST be clicked and look like the above for every action (animation sequence) you plan to use. IF YOU FORGET TO DO THIS, BLENDER WILL NOT WARN YOU, NOTIFY YOU, OR EVEN WINK MYSTERIOUSLY AT YOU It will simply clear the cache when the file is closed, destroying potentially hours of work.
This appears not to be widely known so I am ending this blog entry with my PSA to please be careful!
Also try out lil game, even without the mutations it's a challenge to SURVIVE THE NIGHT.
We've done quite a few games before for LDJam and one was even pseudo multiplayer, but this is our first foray into the real deal! check it out here
can you solve all of the puzzles and escape before midnight?

We made a multiplayer game for the first time, and it works well! The game challenges players to solve a series of riddles and Rebus Puzzles (pictograms that mean something when combined). Solve the riddles, learn the tragic tale of professor Rebus. Can you and your friends escape? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/the-haunting-of-rebus-manor
can also be played solo :)
