Ludum Dare 47

Thanks for the awesome comments! Definitely considering expanding the concept!

Seems quite a few people would like to see my LD47 game get expanded in the future.

To do that I would probably have to rewrite most of the game's systems from scratch, this would be done so to make the game more efficiently expandable, my ways of setting this up for Ludum Dare were extremely hacky, and would probably be laughed at by more experienced gameplay programmers. Also would probably redo the graphics style completely, and remake the character controller a bit less floaty.

If I end up expanding this I would consider having several overall levels, with 3-6 sub-levels between them. The game so far is like one of what would be an easier overall level, with 5 sub-levels to finish. In the expanded version, there would be a save system, optional collectables, maybe enemies and dangers (not sure if that fits the design vision).

Again, I want to say I can't guarantee this is going to happen, right now I am waiting on my Ludum Dare results, to get some idea of how people rated it overall!

Anyway if you haven't seen the game yet and randomly come across this post, here's my mini YouTube trailer of it:

Thanks for reading and have an awesome day!

Ludum Dare 55

Finished my first Godot Gamejam Game - Tiny Scope Project for Ludum Dare 55

BoneTrainGFX.png Over past several weeks I finally got going with Godot. For this Ludum Dare I only had a single day to work solo on a project and so I made my little project Bone Train today over a period of about 8 hours. Not expecting huge results in the jam but happy that I can finally get something done on my own with Godot in such a short timeframe! 馃槄

Here's the game for anyone interested: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/$390078

Massive family emergency, sadly will do no more work on my LD55 submission.

My father had a terrible fall outside the house this evening. He was rushed into hospital after I spent close to forty minutes fighting with the ambulance service (they really wanted to argue with me) to get someone sent out to him, while my mother held him in a position he wouldn't choke on his own blood. Praying he will be okay. My game is as done as it's gonna be (I submitted it earlier before hell broke loose). Please be kind considering the circumstances that I won't be able to fix/modify it till after jam is done.

Rebranded my itch account and created new gamedev socials under new studio name.

Thank you everyone so far who has played my LD55 compo submission considering the awful circumstances since my father had his accident a couple of days ago. Appreciate all the support, and I look forward to playing more of your games.

Made a big change to my itch account and socials today. This will not impact my Ludum Dare entry as the redirects from the old link still work. But for the future I will be releasing games under the new moniker, Amadan Interactive (named after the Irish word).

Went with this as I needed new social accounts for gamedev that actually functioned, and I think the new name suits my projects more than my old musician name that I have had for near a decade.

AmadanBanner.png Made a banner based on my Ludum Dare entry! Change is scary, but with very scary things happening in my life RN, maybe it's time to get what is necessary done.

Thank you so much to everyone who played my entry so far!

Just wanted to say thank you for everyone who played my game. Worked out being a miracle it ended up being submitted at all considering the timing compared to my father's fall an hour later, if I had taken longer I wouldn't have had a chance to submit at all, so that is the entire reason it ended up being way smaller than I initially envisioned with no later updates.

My father has been back from hospital for a week now and he has a head injury that will likely take him 1 month to completely recover from plus other damage.

This was also the first gamejam using the Godot game engine I completed so it was a huge learning experience for me.

Comments like this make me truly appreciate making games: Screenshot 2024-04-22 at 14-43-32 Bone Train - For Ludum Dare 55 ldjam.com Ludum Dare game jam.png

Thank you for all the support and I'm gonna try and play some more of your games now that things are a bit more stable at home.

Just gonna share the entry link to make it easier to find: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/bone-train-for-ludum-dare-55

Not the worst considering I made this in a total of about 8 hours on the first real "day" of the jam in my timezone and an hour after submitting it I was waiting outside with my father for the ambulance crew to show up after he fell.

He's been recovering decently considering the circumstances but has been resting up a lot, which is not a surprise considering the head injury plus age to have an accident like that. 馃様
