LD23

Hai!

I’m in! This is my first ludum dare entry and I’m really excited :) ! I will be using C# + XNA and I will be using a small base engine ( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74691045/LD23.rar ). Nothing fancy, basic screen management and some kind of entity-component system. Anyways, I’m gonna go sleep now so that  I won’t be tired when the competition starts :)

Good luck to everyone!

My game is ready! Except for the actual gameplay :|

Hey!

I’m gonna take a nap now but I thought that I’d post a screen shot of my progress here before I go to sleep. Anyways, here it is:

I don’t have basically any gameplay yet ( aargh! ) so I have lots of things to do tomorrow. Anyways, goodnight ( oops, it’s already 5 AM :) ) !

The Deserted: Post-Mortem

The Deserted : http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=11242

Heyo!

This was my first Ludum Dare and it was.. awesome! I haven’t been programming a lot of games lately so I was positively suprised how this game turned out.

What went right:

– Graphics. I have never been good at making art but in my opinion the end-result was pretty good. I had also cool lighting effect and some noise which improved the overall mood of the game

– Gameplay. The gameplay I managed to get in was pretty polished and works. I haven’t found any bugs at all yet :) !

What went wrong:

– Planning. I started making this game with only “big-picture” of what the game was going to be. Because of this, I for example made level editor that I didn’t use and I started writing the actual gameplay code only 10 hours before the deadline.

– Sleeping ( not that I shouldn’t have slept 😛 ). I pretty much slept at day and coded at night. As a result, I was pretty tired all the time.

What I learned:

– Random generation. I made pretty cool terrain generator, though it turned out to be pretty easy.

– Component-Entity System. This was the first time I used Component-Entity System as my “main”-architecture. I’m not completely sure yet do I like it or not.

– Pixel art. I have never made pixel-art before ( not that I have made any other art either! ) but I managed to get pretty good looking textures :)

I’m already looking forward to the Ludum Dare 24!

LD24

I might be in

Hey.

I’m not sure if I’ll participate to this LD ( because Guild Wars 2 headstart starts ~6h after LD’s start :) ), but if I like the theme and I get something going on during the first couple of hours, I might actually keep doing it. Anyways, if I participate, I will use XNA with C#

LD25

Heyo

Hey, I’m in for LD25 :) This will be my second LD and I’m super duper excited 😛

Language: C#

IDE: VS2012

Framework: XNA4.0

Graphics: Photoshop

Audio: No idea if I will even make audio, but maybe SFXR if I do?

Stream: Nope.

I will most likely be making 3D game. I just made my first 3D game yesterday and wow, I had so much fun :)

Feel free to try it if you like: link

PS. Oh, I almost forgot. I will be using my own library, available here

Progress report #1

Heyo.

So, umm, I don’t really like the theme and I’m not quite sure what kind of a game I will make, but, I made a map!

Nap time!

Update #3

Heyo.

My last update probably. I have finally managed to make any actual gameplay into the game. However, at the moment you cannot win ( or lose unless you do very stupid decisions ) and the game really isn’t fun :( I still got couple of hours time left, so lets hope that I manage to improve the game a bit :)

Phew, I started making gameplay code 7  hours ago and here I am now! Never thought that the end result would’ve been this good ( although, it probably pales in comparison to all the other games here :) ).

Anyways, I had issues earlier today that my friend couldn’t play the game because it just instantly crashed. I think I fixed it, but could some gentle soul with XNA4.0 installed try to play the game real quick? No need to actually even play it, just make sure it launches :) I’m gonna wait here and not go to sleep before someone replies me with positive answer that it wont crash ( it’s 4am here, school starting 8am ), so.. !! Oh, and by the way it’s my birthday today! Yay!

LD26

I’m in!

Heyo,

Just a post to tell you that I’m in for the LD #26. I’m probably gonna write a small warmup game tonight. Lets hope for Minimalistic theme, I got a great game idea for it :) !

Language: C#
IDE: Visual Studio
Framework: XNA 4.0 (maybe I should try MonoGame too :) ?)
Graphics: Photoshop
Audio: Uhm.. Haven’t done any audio before :) Maybe SFXR?

Yay

The exact theme that I was hoping for :) !

First screenshot

Random gen!

Yay, got the random generator *kinda* working! Anyways, I started making a platformer and got collision etc. completed, but after couple of hours I realized that I had no vision of what the levels would be like and decided to scrap it. Now I have been working on this roguelike for about an hour :)

Now I’m gonna go for a run (C25K W1D3 :) !) and then to a (hopefully refreshing) shower and then gonna continue.

I’m really really proud of myself now. Although the game isn’t that much fun, it’s probably the most “gamest” game that I have ever made \o/ !
