Evolving from a micro-organism…to a flying, unicorn pig

Evolution is a wonderful thing. So wonderful, in fact, that Ludum Dare #24 is about it. Now, as for evolution itself, you must understand it visually. And to do that, use the most important way of viewing: the video game. Precisely, the video game: Micro2Mega.

In Micro2Mega, you have been de-evolved from a human all the way to a single-cell micro-organism. You must play through the levels to evolve back into a human. In each level, you will collect the DNA (but watch out for the evil DNA!). Once you have enough DNA, the game will tell you to enter The Evolver. The Evolver is a sort of time portal, which will teleport you to the next stage of the life. Play through, and don’t lose too many strands of your precious DNA!

Public apologies for potential unsafe content in my game, Blind Maze.

My LD31 entry, Blind Maze, contained flashing lights without a warning. At the time, I did not consider that this effect, one of the many effects employed to create a scary atmosphere, could be potentially unsafe to a person with epilepsy or a similar condition. I have removed the line in question in both the Web and Linux versions of the game (it is still in tact in the source, however); the game should be safe for all players from now on. However, I offer the sincerest apologies to anyone who may have played my game previously and especially to anyone who suffered ill side effects from it.

I’m in for this weekend!

I’ve been spending the past few days digging through my old game design books, learning techniques for Flash games, and porting the examples to pixi.js.

I’m planning on using pixi.js and maybe some boilerplate I end up writing over the next few days for my engine.

Wish me luck! <3
