So...a brief description of how my first LD event went. I chose the compo, wanting to push myself to do something. The theme was selected...I spent an hour on the discord watching everyone freak out, and I built a solid idea. I coded the player controller and went to bed...not...parents told me to go to bed so I did...while in bed I grabbed my tablet and started coding in Memo, of all things. Wrote four scripts that night, got maybe 2 hours of sleep.

Next morning, put all the scripts I had created in, and it worked fine. Had an idea for a new mechanic, spent 7 hours working on that before trashing it. I then started work on the UI. After doing the UI, the AI suddenly broke. And then the player controller broke.

By this time it's late at night, and I had already made mistakes from not sleeping the night before, so I went to bed and went to sleep. Woke up this morning. Rebooted everything, changed some code, and it worked. So with 11+ hours to spare, I finished my first LD Compo! Won't be much but at least it is done.

Changelog (12/5): Added Resizable Window..forgot to check the box the first time. Added Code in Play.cs, fixed game breaking ability keeping players from playing again.

New features cannot be added yet. They will be added to the PostLD branch on GitHub, then merged with the master branch after the judging ends.

So, after competing in LD40 and making mistakes, learning from them, and moving on, I was not able to take part in LD41 due to school. Now however, I am back to attempt LD42 and get higher than I did last time where I finished roughly midpack in the field, placing 648th overall. My goal this round is top 500.

This will probably be my last project as a dev, as I will have to lay aside the hobby. We shall see.

I will be doing something of a post-mortem for nobody who will care about nothing that I did. And I will not be streaming because I simply cant. Too many interruptions, also no mic. GL all.

ik ik nobody wants to go yet...just did everything I need to do ALREADY.

I made my base art for the game already, its ugly but IN PROGRESSION. Knew the game I was doing as the theme dropped, and decided to make a quick note here.

Don't rush through programmer art. Think it through.

I also wrote some scripts and stuff to get started.

OVERALL STATUS: UPBEAT.

Code not working... I have a feeling it is Unity. Nonetheless I cannot keep wasting time on an incompetent game engine. I will have to brainstorm for a new idea.

Not wanting to give up, but hour three has flown by with no progress.

Hours 3-5 were spent thinking or watching tv, or telling twitter I am done after all my long rants today.

Hour 6: Hit an idea, had to wait a while for my night laptop to load. but once it finally came up, I put something together. nothing that I care to show yet because it is junky, but I did something, and I will be able to finish later today (its now early saturday morning here) hopefully with no issues.

With that, I will waste several hours and sleep. really sleep. imma get about 6-7 hours of sleep so I can stay up really late Saturday night. that time I will need to finish my game, as doing work sunday after 7am is impossible, except for maybe the closing hours of the event. all in all, good so far...typical game jam/compo night.

LD44: Alright, so the theme and the time has REALLY messed me up so far in my attempts. College has gotten in the way more than anything else, and the dates being changed DOES NOT HELP. Finals started today, and go all next week.

I have two days. 48 hours. And no clue why I still try.
