LD 42

I'm going retro!

Because it's not only Ludum Dare, but also #C64month I'm going to use CBMprgStudio and BASIC V2.

Game idea found: a clicker game for C64

My idea so far: Writing a clicker game, where you have to write code. Each click is a line of code and by buying upgrades (hard- and software, food) you can increase your output and write better and faster code.

As I'm using a C64 (or at least CBMprgStudio and an emulator) and I will use BASIC, the theme might be fitting more than I like. Running out of RAM space could become a problem. ;)

Be a BASIC programmer in the 80s!

My idea: a clicker game for C64, where you are a coder in the 80s who has to write BASIC code. As you proceed you get sleepy and therefore write less code, but include more bugs. You have to rest and eat to gain energy, but you lose precious coding time. You also have to watch memory, because these 38,911 basic bytes are gone faster than you can say: "I wish I had an Amiga 500!"

Basic (BASIC, haha!) functionality is done. Not sure about some game elements yet. Eg. where to get money from to spend on food, etc.

People like my C64 game. Do you?

"Running out of RAM" is a clicker wanna be game for C64. People, who played it, say it's a nice sim game. Either works for me.

It's a C64 game entirely written in BASIC V2, where you are a student with your first development job: program a video collection management software for your father's friend. You need to write code, debug, sleep and more. Need some money? Why don't sell some cracked games to your friends?

My second C64 game for LDJAM

I'll do another BASIC game for C64. It'll be called Maze of Death. The game idea works in my head, we'll see, if it does.

BASIC (haha!) gameplay is done.

I can do this joke all the time...

Maze generation is done. Honestly I stole the idea from a YouTube video and improved it.

I also modified some chars to have a real player character and a wall. Might switch to multicolor chars at least for the wall.

Next steps: some SFX and then the final gameplay.

It's actually a game!

My C64 based game "Maze of Death" works! It's still needs some work, but the basic gameplay is implemented. Can you guess, what you need to do?

Finish line!

My C64 game is almost done. It's fully playable (and fun - at least for me) and as far as I know there are no bugs (they are features of course). Tomorrow I'll clean up the code and hopefully add some sound effects, eg. footsteps. Haven't used the SID for a long time.

I'll also improve the release. Last time a lot of people couldn't play it, because they didn't know how to start WinVICE. Won't happen this time. ;)

Off to bed for now. I need to sleep.

Maze of Death is done! (C64 only)

My C64 game Maze of Death is now published. Currently it's only for real hardware or emulators like WinVice. I'll add other download and play options later in the evening.

Download is available here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/$129657

Hope, you like it!

Super Realistic Parachute Simulator is finished!

SuperRealisticParachuteSimulator.png

It really was fun to do. Actually I wanted to do a downhill game, but my girlfriend came up with the parachute idea. Which worked much better in my opinion.

Hope you like it! More about the game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/$197596

Don't forget to vote. ;)

Do you have acrophobia? Don't play this game!

SuperRealisticParachuteSimulator.png

Super Realistic Parachute Simulator is just that! It's a simulator, it has parachutes, it's realistic and it's super!

Survive as long as possible while floating through the clouds and collecting rings. But beware of the rockets and evil ducks, who try to kill you.

Hope you like this little game as much as I like doing it. ^_^

Ludum Dare 54

I'm in and I have the basics running.

Basic movement is done!

You control a spaceship which moves in one direction until it hits something. Goal will be to reach a space station. I like the idea, but currently it feels too much like Chu Chu Rocket. I need to change that. We'll see tomorrow. Now off to bed!!!
