Ahoy! ☠ Hope you're all having fun so far 😄 After a couple of hours of ~~eating cereal very slowly~~ brainstorming I've decided I don't have any reasonable excuse not to make a game based on Parappa the Rapper.

Like... it's just such a goofy load of fun, and I wanna find a way to bring that into the jam! It's totally theme related. Current plans are to make a game set in nature where predators feed on the weaker for survival. Who gets to be the predator and who gets to be the prey is decided, naturally, by a rap battle. So basically you rap against fish and stuff for the right to eat them.

I swear I'll find a way to make it more sensible in the next 40 hours 😅

(Magikarp is just placeholder art. Drawing fish is difficult and a problem for future me)

Not gonna lie, with every passing minute I get more and more confused as to what I'm trying to do here Anyway here's you challenging a magikarp to a rap battle because I still haven't drawn a fish to replace the karp

Seriously I never expected anything like this. My goal this time was just to finish a game. It's been about 6 years since I last completed a game jam without being at a real world gathering full of people to keep my butt motivated.

So that was really enough. I honestly never expected I would top rankings in Ludum Dare for anything.

The graphics score is of particular pride to me. Back when I started game jamming, my art was atrocious. It's been a long journey trying to improve it, so it's heartening to see... well, as solid number, saying people liked my art.

I'm rambling. Still kinda buzzing at the result. Thank you everyone who played and rated Food Chainz, and congratulations to everyone who took part!

It's got that "pop art by someone who doesn't know anything about pop art" aesthetic, which is great because guess how much I know about pop art
