LD21

I’m In.

I’ve never done one of these before. Hoping this will force me to get over being a wannabe game dev.

Tools

  • Flixel
  • Audacity
  • Gimp

LD22

I’m in

My last game for LD21 really wasn’t much of a game at all. My goal is to do much more this time.

With a little more experience under my belt,  and one absolutely horrific time programming a lighting system in Flashpunk for a school project, I feel that my familiarity with Flash game engine packages has improved drastically.

Also I may be going for the Jam instead of the compo as my co-worker @mrlukewakefield wants to join me. So depending him is weather or not I do the jam or the compo.

Planned Tools:

  • Actionscript3 (Language)
  • FlashDevelop (IDE)
  • Flashpunk (Engine)
  • OGMO (Awesome level editor)
  • Notepad++(just in case)
  • Paint.net, maybe Inkscape for vector (Graphics)
  •  SFXr (Sound) I have found like 4 or 5 different versions of this thing since last LD.
  • LMMS (music)
  • Audacity (last time I recorded myself banging a pan and saying/singing “do do do” in some amalgam of a action chase melody)
Cheers to all you fellow LD22 participants.

You’ll get it man and yes we’re gonna make an awesome combo!!

LD23

Declaration of Intent to declare variables. LD23 I’m In!

I didn’t do so well in LD22 so here’s to trying again!

I tried to make something during Molyjam2012 but I bit off way more than I could chew. I tried to make a chain/cord in Unity3d and All I managed was a whirling mass of doom that exploded across the horizon or flew through the sky like some snake/dragon thing. It was kind of cool in its own way, but definitely not what I was going for :). Lesson learned, keep physics REALLY simple, or don’t have them.

I’m hoping the theme for the next LD is something that wont be crazy for ideas. Either way my goal is to KEEP IT STUPIDLY SIMPLE. I would like to complete a game this time. It doesn’t help that I have a 3 hour class Saturday and a Birthday party to go to right after.

Either way I’m IN!

Tools/Engines n’ Stuff

  • Unity3d: I will probably use the amazing RagePixel add on to make a 2d game. (I’ve been playing with it recently, it’s free and pretty powerful)
  • SFXR/BFXR(one of these thingies, there is like 20 different versions of it): Cause easy sounds are easy.
  • Audacity: I think if I didn’t want to make games for a living I would enjoy being a Foley Artist.
  • Paint.net: I’ve bonded with this program for pixel work.
  • Gimp: For anything Paint.net doesn’t do.
  • Blender: Just in case I feel the need to make 3d stuff(probably not).

I tried the Chain/Cord thing during LD20 and failed miserably.

LD26

Im in!

This will be LD #3 for me. My first was 21 where I entered an awful 1 button game, second was 22 where I failed to produce anything for the “Alone” theme.

Anyways It’s been a bit and I’m throwing in my chips with LD #26.

Tools

  • Unity3d(2dtoolkit most likely)
  • Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Garage Band
  • BFXR
  • Blender (knew I was forgetting something)

Now time to vote for themes!

Cheers!

One of those status update type things.

Here It is so far!

Link to the game: Here

Things To Add/ Work on.

  • Music
  • buggy pause screen
  • Fun(It has none)
  • Player Health(AKA shields, might help with above issue)
  • Put score in win screen
  • add more to the level
  • other enemy types(Maybe)
  • Power-ups(Hopefully)
  • Boss(Maybe)

At this point I’m just super happy with what I’ve accomplished! Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am!

Personal Goals.

  • COMPLETE.
  • Minimum Viable Product.
  • More than 1 level(If levels are applicable)

In the nick of time. I'm in!

Cleared up time to do this again! It's been at least since the new site went up since I've tried. Good luck folks!

Tools. Blender Photoshop Unity3d/Unreal/Construct3/GameMaker(totally depends on the theme!)

Sound & music is one of my weaknesses so I don't know what will happen if I get to that point.

Ending Day 1

Man what a crazy theme. To get over the hump of idea generation and start coding I had to mash together a few genres.

So right now I'm shooting for

Survival + Match 3 + Step/Gridbased(Rogue-like) Movement + Tower Defense

It's a weird idea, but I think I can do all of those things. Plus it gives me the added bonus of really only needing 1 level.

As I wrap up the night I have this with grid movement in GM2. Which I have never used before but am seriously liking how quick I was able to plop stuff down!

I'm in.

It's been a while since I've had the time to hop in for a jam of any kind. Kind of rusty. Honestly not sure I even have tools installed.

Probably going to use GameMaker. Photoshop. Ableton(If I even get to the music stage). I'll fill in other tools as I use them.

I'm thinking KISS for this. It's been years but my failures in the past have me wanting to just finish this time.

Cheers to completion!

Good luck all!
