Ludum Dare 53

Holy moly.

I never expected to score this high. I knew this was my most polished consistent entry so far but... damn.

Thanks to everyone who played my game, voted and/or left a comment. I am still in shock.

Ludum Dare 54

In once again. Let's go.

Hi. It's me. You may know me from hit games such as [NOTE TO EDITOR THROW A RANDOM GAME IN HERE DONT SEND THIS OUT UNEDITED]

I'm in. I'm hyped. I want to make a game. Let's go.

Theme suggestions this time include (but are not limited to (actually they are)): Screenshot from 2023-09-18 09-02-41.png

good stuff.

In other news, my tool lineup has not changed whatsoever:

  • :video_game: Game Maker Studio 2 to code bugs, at least two features and more bugs. I wanted to be proficient in Godot at this point and have not gotten around to that yet, since my friend is abandoning Unity though, I might finally start learning with him. Hopefully next time I can actually use it.
  • :musical_keyboard: Ableton Live 11 to make a banger soundtrack. It could include an instrument. Maybe even one drum. Maybe... even more? Who knows? Stay tuned to find out.
  • :musical_note: bfxr for the sound effects I can't make in Ableton because I fixated on a 0.2 second reverb falloff for 3 hours and now have 20 minutes left to finish my game
  • :paintbrush: Aseprite to create wonderful pixel art. Or the most horrible pixel combinations you have ever seen. For some reason my art always falls into one of those two categories.
  • :globewithmeridians: GitHub to host my code. It's their servers. I'm not forcing them. If they don't want to associate with my code they don't have to.

Well, that's all for now. See you in 11 days. Have a fantastic day :D

Made a game. Very tired. It's done.

I am done. As per usual I am unable to function right now so I will just drop you a fancy screenshot, a link and then I'll get out for today. I'll start playtesting tomorrow.

Jeez I'm tired.

You can play CAVE here. Linux and Web builds will follow shortly. Goodnight.

Ludum Dare 55

oh im in btw

Whoops. Completely forgot to make a post this time. I've been working on a thing all day and I want to make up for my (very) late post with a screenshot. Presenting a (very early) version of DESUMMONING!

NOTBALATROISWEAR.jpg

I have been playing too many deckbuilding games lately. I wanted to make my own. So I'm doing it. See you all later! :D

HE IS HERE. (I made a game yay)

If you want to learn more about him, you can find him in my game DESUMMONING over HERE.

It's been another great LDJAM :D

See you soon!

Ludum Dare 56

I'm in!

...yeah, I kinda forgot to say that. For like, the entire duration of the jam.

So yeah, I made a game. It's my first attempt at making basically anything with Godot and I spent about half my time switching between Godot, the documentation and ChatGPT to get something resembling a game but I am very happy with the result.

So, if you want to play a game where you are a swarm of insects destroying local farms while evading birds, give FIELD TRIP a go!

Bonus screenshot! img3.png

Thank you :D

...I am in shock. I actually don't know what to say.

I felt that I had struck a good balance between content and polish this time really early but to see numbers this good... I didn't expect it.

I'm especially happy with my graphics score, the visual aspect of game making has been my weak point for so long and to receive the highest rating I've ever gotten in any Ludum Dare in that category shows me that maybe I am making progress. It's just a nice little extra motivation for next time.

Thank you all for playing, voting and being cool people. I'll write up a detailed proper post mortem in the following days. It's gonna be epic and lit.

Field Trip: The Post Mortem

So, I've written up a Post Mortem for the first time in my life and honestly, it's been pretty fun. I might do that again for the next one.

If you want to read about my super epic journey of switching to Godot with basically no prior experience and a time limit of 48 hours (and some stuff about the game I made I suppose), click THESE SUSPICIOUSLY COLORED LETTERS.
