The Compass – Finished (Almost)

Our Game, “The Compass” is almost finished, after having a day of school without being able to work on it its now finished (apart from some music loops).

compass

You start out in a jungle not remembering anything, who you are, where you are, why you are here…

You find a GPS on the ground next to you, it has coordinates in it.

Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to follow the GPS in aid of finding clues as to why you are where you are.

We’re In!

Hello guys,

We’re in again, this is our 5th Ludum Dare and will hopefully be our best yet.
We have had some good ones and bad ones in the past, so i’ll go through them:

LD24: “Vortex“, this was a reasonable effort, finished making two levels and did audio and decent game mechanics and graphics.

LD25: “Bandits“, this didn’t go well, at all. After spending close to 15 hours trying to implement our first ever try at a path-finding algorithm, we gave up and submitted a non complete game. There was decent graphics though.

LD26: “Adventures !inColour“, we actually finished a game to the end this time, although the game was fairly repetitive and a bit boring. It did alright.

LD27: “The Compass“, our best effort yet, this game had decent graphics, decent music, in our minds a great story and not too many bugs. It was good fun to make and didn’t do too bad on the charts either.

LD28: Who knows. We’ll find out over the next few days…

Anyway, enough rambling about the past and lets get to the present…

We will be writing in java as usual, using the inbuilt graphics API.
No libraries or base code, just plain java :).

Tools:

  • Eclipse IDE
  • SFXR for sound effects :)
  • Ableton Live and VST’s for music creation
  • Paint.NET for bitmaps
  • Git for version control
  • Jenkins CI server for continuous builds
  • Our brains! (or what’s left of them by the end)

As always, have a great time everyone!

Status Update…

After a few hours of brainstorming, and a fair few doing not much, we have something little to show…

My other teammates gone to a party tonight so its just me deving… Should be fun!

Heres what we have so far (it has collision detection and moving around :P)

Anyway. Have fun everyone!

We’re in, and keen to code!

We’re back for the 6th time now, and hoping for success! Every entry has been better than the previous ones, so this month should go off with a bang! Hopefully we can come up with something fun and funny.

As usual, we’ll be coding in Java, using Eclipse (possibly using our own 2D Physics library if we get around to finishing it).
For graphics, either Paint.NET or Photoshop, depending on the style we choose.
Music will be made in Ableton Live.
Food will be excessively consumed.

We shall keep you updated. Happy coding everyone!

We’re in again

Ion Programming are in again for their 8th LD. We’ll be entering the jam again and hopefully do better than last time. Our entries are getting progressively better and more polished each time, so hopefully we’ll win something this time around.

As usual, we’ll be running on a tight schedule because of our school/uni commitments.

We’ve planned, and hopefully we’ll stick to it, to make a very simple game. Lots of time spent planning and polishing, hopefully keeping the core of the development to just over a day.

Our arsenal of tools will include, as usual:

  • Java
  • Eclipse
  • Git
  • Photoshop
  • Paint.NET
  • Ableton Live
  • Audacity
  • This amazing musical engineering masterpiece:

HAHA! What an enormous thing! Good for evil overlords! Have you ordered your white cat?

Finally set up…

After a delay while we set up the sound system for a local event just after the theme announcement, we’re finally set up and ready to make a start on our entry! We have just about everything we’ll need in this room, and more! 2 computers, 4 monitors, sound system, a piano, a keyboard, and a whopping great organ! So, time to start! We’ll keep you posted! Best of luck everyone!

Looks amazing! Good luck!

LD31

We’re probably not in…

Yes, regrettably, I must inform you that we are (probably) not going to participate in this LD.
We haven’t missed one since we started back in LD24 (although last time we were unable to complete and submit our entry).
There is another project in need of our attention, so… That’s that.
If we find the time, we might whip up a quick entry, but nothing too fancy.
So… Happy LD-ing to everyone, and good luck!

We’re in

Once again,

Ion Programming is in for LD, we will be once again using LibGDX after our very successful last entry.

Poppy will again join us to for the art.

Good luck to all attending.
