I’ve been working on a game which itself is made up of mini-games. Maybe the perfect opportunity to do a Ludum Dare? I’ll be using Unity 5, doing all my pixel art in Gimp, and targeting PC and maybe Android. So far no idea what I wanna do, so we’ll see when that theme lands.

My progress so far. After the end of the world, this doctor just wants to keep his last patient alive, but the life support systems require constant power. The only source of electricity left is from the hoards of robots that have laid waste to the world.

Continuing to develop the hopeless adventure of this poor doctor in a wasteland at the end of the world, desperately battling an army of machines in the desert to harvest their batteries and keep the last patient's life support running a while longer.

I've made a lot more progress, but its not all easy to show in a GIF. This new firing animation, which also uses the hold-to-aim/release-to-fire controls, is good tho. The new two-step firing makes the combat a lot more intense. What a GIF doesn't show very well is the tightened up controls for movement, and the big boost in atmosphere with the addition of a soundtrack and good effects I've edited from a collection of samples.

This was my first Ludum Dare, but definitely not the first time I wanted to do one. I'm SO happy I finally got to do this! It was a really rewarding experience and I can't wait to play everyone else's games and to do this again!

After the jam I did one small bugfix and some porting, so there are now both Windows and OSX versions available.

But, I also realized the game page was really bland, so I worked up some character art for the Doctor in my game!

As well as recording a final gameplay GIF to show off what you're gonna be playing before you download!

I'm short on votes, but have had good feedback from the people who have played so far. Hope I can make the minimum before voting ends, so please help! I'm trying to play as many of everyone else's entries as I can, too. There are so many great jam entries to enjoy!

These dumb robots don't even look like robots. They're so stupid they can only remember 4 instructions and repeat them forever. What am I gonna do with these stupid robots?
