LD29

Pawn – first day

I had this idea of a game, where levels would be inspired by verses of a poem/a song, for quite some time. And what is a better time to put that to test than Ludum Dare, especially when the theme nicely fits into that formula.

Good night and good luck to all participants.

My first LD

Even though I’m feeling  “a little” tired and I’m unable to make any more content despite  having still two hours till deadline, I must say: “This was a triumph.”

It was awesome experience and I was pleasantly surprised how much one can finish in 48 hours. Looking forward to the next LD.

Wake me up when LD starts

I’m in! Nothing like the entire Friday spent sleeping and waking up Saturday at 2:30 AM to do some game making.

I’ll be using:

  • Crafty.js (engine)
  • Photoshop (graphics)
  • sfrx (sounds)
  • cgMusic (music)
  • Tiled (world)
  • ShoeBox (tile packing if needed)
  • Notepad++ (coding)

Looking forward to do some storytelling. Good luck to everyone.

Off topic: The snowman such a troll…

Playable demo

Surprisingly, this LD I am doing okay with time. Yeah don’t ask, no idea why. Here is first playable demo (hosted on one of my websites, dropbox = :( )

http://vevojtechove.cz/LD32/index.html

It’s a very simple strategy game, where you have to build a huge-ass ramp it time, in order to save your building from meteorite.

Any feedback or comments are, of course, most welcomed. What I am hoping to add before deadline:

  • Sounds and music
  • Second harder difficulty
  • Intro animation
  • Little dude showing you how much time you have left

I’m not quite sure what’s happening when I the smiley faces change on the tents and when Xs appear on their icons but I can click (sometimes) to undo the X.

Hunter vs Hunted finished

This was an interesting LD for sure. My partner ditched me during the second day (shame on him) but surprisingly it did not end up with a disaster. I had to scrap some gameplay ideas yet I had time for all the core things. I went for a D&D adventure vibe map, simple resource management and generic but hopefully not boring fantasy story. Check it out here!Gameplay preview

I’m in…

And this time I’m a little bit more prepared. Since I’ve decided to make a collectible card game, I had to a little bit of coding beforehand to even have a shot at finishing something. While my “engine” has zero gameplay in it so far, hopefully I will end up with more of “polished” piece of work.

  • Unity
  • Photoshop+Illustrator
  • Blender
  • Audicity

Good luck to everyone and may the theme gods be with us!

Best of luck to you! I am going in for my 2nd time and I’m feeling far more prepared, though I still have some preparation work to do. I think coding certain systems beforehand is fair, especially now that ratings are gone.

Compo is dead, long live the jam

Deep deep in my heart I was hoping I could make it for the compo, but it was obvious I took far too large bite for that. On the other hand, I am really happy with what I have right now, especially the state of the engine. Gameplay is still lacking, but there is tomorrow for that.

I am making card game (read poor man’s Hearthstone clone) with one level where you fight against AI boss. Here is a sneak peak:
