Nervous, but I’m in!

This is my first Ludum dare, which is probably one of the craziest things I’ve ever done.  I’m nervous, maybe even a little scared, and I’ve been waffling back and forth on whether I actually want to try.  But you know what!  I’m going to do it!

Tools:

Development Engine: Game Maker 8.1

Sounds: Bfxr

Graphics: Gimp

Music: Autotracker-C

I’m even going to try for the Compo instead of the Jam!  I admit I am a little confused about some of the rules, even after reading the rules section.  It said something about “Base code” being allowed, and I’m not sure what that means.  I have a little code already written (basically just an implementation of an Application Controller for Game Maker,) so am I allowed to use that, or do I have to write it again?

I’m also not sure what the timing is supposed to be.  I know I have to make everything within 48 hours, but does that mean I can pick any 48 hours during the 26th to the 29th?

Anyway, I’m excited to test myself.  Wish me luck!

You have to submit it between the 48 hours of the compo starting and finishing.

Also, you can use libraries as long as the code is available and you have declared their use.

the timer at the top of the website shows how much time till things kick off, once it starts the timers will change to countdown mode, 48hrs for compo, 72hrs for jam

Declaring Code

I want to make sure I’m not cheating, so here’s the base code I’m going to be using:

Really simple: basically just an implementation of an Application Controller (of sorts) in Gamemaker 8.1.

I finished!

I was seriously starting to doubt myself there for a while.  But even though I cut it close, I managed to get some kind of finished product ready before the cut-off time!  Hurray!

Good luck to anyone else trying to finish up at the last minute!

I’m in!

I’m in!  This will be my second time doing Ludum Dare.

My tools:

Code: Game Maker Studio: Standard edition

Graphics: Paint Tool SAI or MSPaint (or possibly just drawing primitives: depends on what the theme is)

Sound: Bfxr

Music: Autotracker

Timelapse: Chronolapse

I’m also declaring a small Application Controller engine that I built on top of Game Maker to help keep my code organized.  Source here.

Last time I made a simple side-scroller called “Shadows.”  I was proud of it, but I had a bit too wide of a scope: this time, I’m going to try to make something even simpler, ideally something I can have more or less done by the end of the first day (so I have time for tweaking if I need to.)

Finished LD28

I did it!  I made one of those… things… you know… a game!  That’s it.

This was my second Ludum Dare, and I had a lot of fun.  My game, Trick Shot, was much less ambitious than my previous entry, which meant I wasn’t as stressed this weekend as I was last time.  My game is simple, but I’m pretty happy with it.  Feel free to give it a try and tell me what you think!

We’re in

I’m a little late with the post, but I’m totally in.  This is first time I’ve done the Jam rather than the Compo, and that I’m doing this with someone instead of by myself.

I’ll be using Unity, (which is also a first,) and various other tools for other assets.

We’re in!

My friend and I will be participating in the Jam for the second time!  And this time we’ve got a third member, even, working on music and sound!

We’ll be using Game Maker Studio and sundry other tools.

Best of luck to everyone!

A friend and I are teaming up for the jam! We’ll be using Unity. Good luck, everyone!
