Ludum Dare 51

Timeslime

Hey guys, I would love it if you tried me and my friend's game Timeslime. It's our first game jam, and we had a great time, so we would appreciate some feedback, since this definitely won't be our last!

If you comment with a link to your game, I'll try it out and give some feedback, too!

It's a game where each time you make a move (or shoot), the input is recorded and played back 10 seconds later, in the next wave. Each wave has one more enemy than the last, so you have to be conservative with your inputs, in order to not get flooded with inputs in the next wave!

What an intense last night

Wow.

Those last 4 hours of the game jam must have been some of the most productive programming I've ever done. Two hours before submission, our game didn't look like a game at all.

Only very few textures were applied and several core mechanics had not even been implemented yet. (Most notably the "combiner", that takes two food items and creates a new one, and the whole system for how food items should interact).

We actually managed to fix all of the (identified) bugs, and got to a point where creating levels would be pretty quick. But this was at midnight, so we could't actually add them to the game :(

An hour or two more of development, and the game would have been the best ever (is what we keep telling ourselves  )

This is what our first non-trivial level (finished around 30 minutes past deadline) looks like when solved:
