Ludum Dare 37

Progress #1 – Prototype

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. So, after 4 hours since it started, I hadn’t found a good game idea which made me nervous. But, hey! Did you know that old Nokia Snake game perfectly suits the “One Room” theme?

Yeah, that’s what I am making. I think snake is suitable for beginner like me. Of course, the game I will do won’t be complete rip-off, but more like upgraded new Snake!

For last 2-3 hours, I did some coding. Which I am basically done. Now, I’m gonna just throw some arts and that’s it.

Here’s how it looks, right now.

Progress#2 – Placeholders

I had to go outside to break the ice and that took me over 2 hours. Since, time is running out, now I am gonna try to be more productive. The hardest part of my game has come, I have to create assets and replace these ugly placeholders.

Progress Update#3 – Lag

Hello, there. My game was lagging too much and I spent nearly half of the day to fix it. Well, I was able to fix it, but now my code got so ugly that I don’t want to work on it anymore. So, I’m gonna add menu and some real levels(bottom pic is just test level) then I will straight work on sounds.

For anyone not familiar with what I am making, this is Snake game with multiple Snakes, kinda.

Here, it is already midnight and I have school tomorrow. So, I need to sleep. Since this is my first LDJAM, I was really inexperienced and I couldn’t plan my time effectively. Now, I have to get this game done, quickly.

Progress Update#4: Sounds

Even though, I have tons of ideas to add in my game, time has come and I really need some sleep. So, I am gonna finish this as only playable game with few “unique level”s. If people like this concept, I am gonna continue to work on this project even after LDJAM has finished.

I’ll share my project to jimsen.itch.io after testing a while. Please, give feedback as it is my first time entering Ludum Dare. Also, first time making a game.

LD 40

First prototype is ready!!! Finally, moved on to sprite-making

So, I can share something observable for my progress. Gameplay is almost done, I just have to draw so many sprites and create music, *sigh! I doubt I can make it in time since only 9h left for compo. And my Monday schedule is full, so there will be no point switching to Jam. I guess I have to pull an all-nighter.

Oh, and it's a Doctor Vampire game.

Wrapped Up!

It's already Monday, here! And I've got uni to attend, so wrapped up my game 4 hours prior even though there is still tons of things to implement. Like tutorials! God, I hope my game mechanics are being easy to understand.

The game is still raw. However, I am pretty proud of myself to "finish" my first LDJam.
