LD 43

Our sacrifices weren't enough...

During the Jam, our programmer's laptop went through several problems and we had a really hard time finishing the game. However, we loved the theme and the idea we had, so we pretend to continue to develop it into something better in the near future.

Sadly, there's not much to do in the game right now as we couldn't even finish the main mechanics. In the end, all we had was a character that could move, jump and shoot across a level with some Unity boxes instead of proper platforms' art.

It was a tough jam. It was just 3 of us, and we didn't have an artist, so we had to use art packages we purchased a while back, but they still required some editing in order to blend in with our idea. The laptop's several issues were our biggest setback. We did most of the game on Saturday, but really struggled to update throughout Sunday. Plus, we all worked on Monday, so that didn't help either.

This was my second LD Jam, and sadly, the outcome was the same as that of Ludum Dare 41. We designed a great game at the time, one which I am still developing to this day. But our team had so many schedule problems in that Jam that the game ended up being a Frankenstein at the end of it. This time, however, we had everything planned out prior to the Jam, but the laptop problem caught us by surprise, sadly, to no avail, as each one of us was jamming remotely and couldn't lend a hand (or a working laptop) to our fellow dev.

But still, despite the current state of the game, we were able to decide an idea very quickly, which was a serious improvement from the last jam we were in, and we also worked better together this time around. So in the end, our self-improvement was really worth it. At least for me!

I wish you all a great rating period and hope you guys enjoyed it and learned as much as I did through this one!
