I'm making a game!

I think I've got a good idea, just trying to work out the details. It's currently a point & click escape game where you're trapped in a virtual reality.

I'll post more about it soon; stay tuned!

It's getting there!

So I've got the game engine together (a refined version of some code from a previous LD) and I've got the story and level design mostly figured out! I just threw together some concept art to see what it'll look a little like. Here's what I've got so far:

Now time to get some sleep!

"Extraction" is released.

Extraction Screenshot A.png

Extraction is a point & click game set in a virtual reality. You must find "the cube" and get out.

I've recorded a timelapse of development, and I'm starting to make a video out of it. It'll probably be going up tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

Making a story-based game

GIF 2.gif

I'm making highly story-based game for the 72 hour jam, and so far I have a character that can walk and talk. I also have some concept art, and I've planned out most of the story. A little behind schedule, but I think I can catch up for the most part tomorrow. And that dialog in the gif is just for testing, lol.

Paradise Inc — A short story-based game

GIF 3.gif

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my Jam entry! It's definitely my most ambitious one so far, and some things had to be simplified in order to make the deadline. But overall, I'm happy with how it turned out.

"Paradise Inc" needs ratings!

My entry was very experimental story-based game, and I'm really curious as to what everyone thinks of the various aspects like art and mood. So it would be awesome if you could come check it out, and leave a rating!

If you're low on ratings too, just let me know! I'll come play it when I get a chance tomorrow.

Need more ratings on your game?

I'll play & rate your game, just leave a link in the comments!

I don't have enough ratings either, so I'd also appreciate it if you could come do the same for my entry, "See:NoMore". It's an interesting game about hacking, based in a fake computer operating system. Let me know what you think!

Need ratings on your game?

I'm looking for games to play & rate! If you've received less than 20 ratings, leave a comment down below and I'll come check it out shortly.

I'd also greatly appreciate it if you could do the same for my entry, "Tale of the Dreamer"! It's a short little web game, so it shouldn't take you but a moment. Thanks!

First attempt at an FPS... "Operation SOL-3"!

GIF-1.gif

It's been a while since I've made a proper 3D game for a jam or otherwise, and this time around I thought I'd give it a try again! After considering a few different ideas, I eventually landed on attempting to make an intense retro-style first person shooter.

I spent most of my time in the jam working on the gameplay mechanics, and on making the combat feel fun and responsive. Lots of trails, flashes, camera shake, and impact effects! A lot of the 3D assets come from the Unity Asset Store, though everything else is my work. I whipped up some cool synthwave music, layered sounds to create the effects I needed, etc.

It was definitely a crazy yet fun experience participating in Ludum Dare once again, and I'm pretty proud of what I was able to pull off. The connection to the theme is fairly weak, but I think the gameplay worked out as well as I could've hoped.

Let me know what you think! This was my first attempt at making an FPS game, and especially within the 3 day time-frame. I'll be starting to play & rate other entries tomorrow, so remember to leave a comment so I can check out yours!

While you're at it, consider checking out my entry, an intense retro FPS called "Operation SOL-3". Had a lot of fun trying something very different from everything else I've been making recently!

LDJAM46 Post-Mortem: "I made an FPS game in 3 days!"

As part of my weekly game dev related vlog series, I discussed the process of coming up with and creating my entry for Ludum Dare! It was a crazy experience, I tried many new things & pushed my limits to create something awesome.

If you want to come check out my game, that would be fantastic. Thanks!

Let's trade ratings before the deadline! ⏰

Hey, fellow procrastinators! We're getting close to the deadline and I'm sure some of you are short on ratings like me. Link your game in the comments here and I'll check it out shortly!

My game is a side-scrolling shooter called "Closed Circuit", and I could certainly use some ratings as well: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/closed-circuit

Thanks in advance, and good luck to you all!

My brother's game is really neat! (and needs ratings!)

I'd love if you can go check out his game, it's really quick to play and I think you'll get a kick out of it! I think it was a really unique and fun idea, and I'd love to see it get the attention and ratings it deserves.

I’ll play & rate your game!

If you’re like me, you waited too long to work on getting enough ratings for your game. Maybe we were busy, maybe we procrastinated a bit.

But here we are! Link your game in the comments and I’ll check it out tonight. Please consider checking out my goofy little game while you’re at it! 😄

Need last-minute ratings?

Link your game in the comments and I'll play it after I get back from work!

My brother and I made a metroidvania where you respawn every 10 seconds, keeping your progress. We'd GREATLY appreciate a quick rating. Thanks!
