LD30

First LD

I am in for my first Ludum Dare!  Looks like I’ll be participating in the 72hr jam.

Tools will be

* HTML5 / Javascript, no ‘game engine’

* Tiled map editor

* Audacity

* GIMP

update

First LD and so I thought I’d better post something to get in the spirit!

My game “4W” is going ok, I have basic mechanics, reasonably happy with the visuals and have sound and music.  It’s a ‘physics platformer’ with interconnected worlds, each of which has different physics (only gravity at the moment).

Now just need to make a few levels and a tutorial, then if I have any time left I will add in some extra features…

The end

And that is that.  I had a lot of fun.  And I’m reasonably happy with how things went.

My game is called ‘W4’, and it’s a physics puzzle platformer.

Good things that happened:

* reasonably ambitious game

* learned about / improved on using these tools: tiled editor, sfxr, abundant-music.com, espeak

* learnt a bit more about HTML5 canvas

Bad things that happened:

* didn’t implement the physics carefully enough first time round, and wasted a lot of time re-doing things (still not perfect)

* code lost a bit of structure towards the end (I guess inevitable)

Looking forward to playing some of your games over the next few weeks!

LD31

3Scale Released on android

Yesterday I released an improved version of my LD31 game, 3Scale, to the Android Play Store:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jpmitdev.threeScale

Additions since the LD version include:

* more levels

* new survival mode

If you didn’t get the chance to play it when ranking LD31, 3Scale is an arcade game which involves jumping over small blocks.  It is simple but challenging, and can also be highly addictive!
