We updated The Given Path!

With all of the given feedback we were able to improve our game quite a bit! (like unreadable text and bugs)

We'd love to see more feedback come in for the new version, since we want to keep working on the game this would help us a lot!

Thank you in advance and I hope to see you here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-given-path

Assassin Loop - Artists needed

Hi! We are making a top down game and we have one artist, 3 devs (including me) and an audio designer! We could still very much use some artists, so if you feel like joining in feel free to add me on discord: Basic Centen Milky#8080

About our game called Assassin Loop;

You have to find out who your target is by talking to guests found in the house, when you know who to kill you can take them down!

If you havent found out within a certain time or kill the wrong person the loop starts over. With every loop the timeline deteriorates and people's sentences will become more difficult to read.

Hope to hear from you!

The Endless 8 - Available now!

The Endless 8

Clock icon.png

A mysterious figure has tasked you with an assassination. Simple enough, just one, tiny, problem. You have no clue who you have to kill. All you have is a short description of the person in question, and a magical device which makes you relive the same day 8 times. Do you have what it takes to find your target within this loop?

Cover.png

The Endless 8 is a game about investigation. Converse with the characters in the story to find out more about each, and everyone of them.

Web Build

Our game now has a web build ready! In Unity 2020 is a bug that breaks web builds which causes them not to start. We downgraded our project to 2019 and everything seems to work!

Enjoy the game, we'd love your feedback!

Searching for artists

Good morning everyone!

We just started working again on our game but could still use some artists!

We are a team of 4; 3 developers and 1 audio composer! Interested in checking our previous work? You can find it here: https://basicmilky.itch.io/

If you are interested in joining us, feel free to contact me here or on Discord: Basic Centen Milky#8080

Jam update & still looking for team members!

Hey everyone, we are making a game about a drunk guy scaling up a mountain to reach his favorite bar for Happy Hour!

As you can see in the gif, the player's movement is a bit... unstable as one could say :)

DrunkWalk.gif

We are still looking for 2D artists and audio composers!

If you got time to spare and would like to help us out (or know someone that might be interested ^^), then feel free to contact me here or on discord!

Our concept + progress

hey everyone!

2-ish hours into our second day and we've already got some good progress! We had some difficulties coming up with a good concept but we are really excited for our current one!~

Searching teammates

We are still looking for a 2D artist and an audio composer! Got some time left? Feel free to contact me here or on Discord: Basic Centen Milky#8080

Old concepts

We had a lot of fun coming up with random concepts, some concepts we didn't choose involved a spin on one of our first jams where the main character hears whispers and has to complete each whispered task. Since we wanted to keep this game small we had to cut this idea.

Some of our other concepts: - Unstabled; Destroying a stable as quickly as possible, either by solving puzzles or just terrain destruction. - Saving animals from a unstable stable; a 60-seconds like game where you have to carry all of the animals out of the stable. - Helping your patients get through their problems as their psychologist. - An environmental survival game where you have to take resources from the ground to fuel your generators. The more resources you take, the weaker the ground below you.

Our main concept

We are making a game about Mink, a drunk guy that has an invitation for Happy Hour! Help him get on top of a mountain by surviving obstacles and Mink's wonky legs!

Our main character: Mink.png

Thanks for reading, good luck with the jam!

Progress day two

Hey everyone! We are done with our second day of the jam, one day to go! For all the Compo devs, congrats on finishing your game!

I wanted to show you a little update of our game! The first gif is from the end of yesterday. Today we finished our first 2 levels!

Good luck on the last day, looking forward to seeing all of your games tomorrow!

Finished our game!

We finished another jam game! This jam was a lot of fun! It took us a while to get a fun concept, but I think we did pretty good this time around!

itchthumbnail.png

Our game is about a drunk called Mink, I hope you'll like it! We would love to get feedback as we might continue working on it ^^

Concept creation

LD49 1.png

I think a lot of people will agree with me on this; Getting a good concept for this jam was difficult! We had a lot of ideas that didn't really go anywhere.

As you can see in the image we wrote quite some of our idea's down but eventually got stuck because we couldn't think of anything else. Maybe a good tip for the next jam: Delve into your idea's and see where you land.

With that I mean, don't just keep thinking of new idea's but actually think about your current idea's and see how you can spin them. On one of my previous posts I talked about this a bit more!

Choosing the concept

LD49 3.png Once we choose to delve into "Climbing a mountain while drunk" (which might've been a bit to specific) We thought about what would be cool for this game and how it would actually work. An important thing to think about is the MVP, what do you need to finish the game; what makes it fun and what makes it winnable?

Our MVP for this game was the wiggly movement and the goals! The rest was extra or even optional. Once you are working on the jam, you can decide to cut things out, like "doing small tasks" since they wouldn't add a whole bunch into the game.

We eventually created Drunk Hill, which can be played here!

Streaming

I hope this was at least a bit interesting to you!

I will be streaming Ludum Games in a bit, if you want me to play your game you can join here!

Final round discussion

final.png

I am pretty happy with some of the themes in the final round! Both of my favorite themes managed to get through :)

What I usually look for in a theme is something that isn't too restricting and can be used for every genre.

Folklore

This is the theme I am looking forward to the most, we already checked out some of our local folklore and found some interesting ones that could be used for a fun game! It isn't too restricting either, you can make a puzzle game or even a shooter depending on which folklore you use (you can even combine multiple folklores to create your own story!)

Roadtrip

This theme could be interpreted in a couple of ways; A game about traveling (what conflicts are on your way?), A management game where you manage your friend group from ruining things (Maybe similar to the business minigame from Yakuza 0?).

A single resource & Space is limited

These two can be used in a lot of ways too! Maybe a game about a shrinking room; win or be squashed. One battery; where to use it and when?

Not my favorite themes as I am not sure if every genre could be applied to these themes (Single resource shooting game?).

Conclusion

Looking forward to this weekend!

If you'd like, tell us about your favorite themes, or maybe some concepts you are thinking about!

2nd Day Progress

Our game

We are making a train management game where you play minigames to fix the components! So far we got the main systems and a couple of minigames!

Tomorrow we will add more minigames, sound effects and our main soundtrack!

All I will show for now is our main menu:

For all Compo jammers: Good luck in the last 20 minutes!
