First time, yay!
Time to dust off my Game Maker skills after 4 years since I looked at creating a game at all. Getting all excited! Just me this weekend, using Game Maker Studio 1.4 and any tool I can find for gfx/sfx.

I spent last 3 hours since I woke up thinking what to do and I believe I finally have an idea.
Long live programmer graphics, let's start with the actual code now. :)

The base for ship is coded, engines glued to their position and they no longer get left behind when the ship turns.
Time to get some food and make the engines actually give us some movement.

Movement for player is done, nice and smooth and won't let you leave the window (important part that, who would have thought).
Got some stars in the background and some star wind a bit closer, so the illusion of fast speed works nicely.
For the next step:
Captain! Engine 1 is misaligned, it will be way harder to dodge those torpedoes now!
Just toss it away, lieutenant.
But... we will be slower then, what if we don't make it?!
Do it! We can still make it!

Base mechanics are all there, now to actually think of how to control which engine to toss away.

I just published my game for the compo, feels amazing.
Now I'm going to get some sleep, work awaits tomorrow. Looking forward to checking out all the games in the evening tomorrow.
