Extra category?

Hi all, sorry if I've missed an obvious post somewhere, but any idea if we're still running the Extra category for LD52?

My team's all a little busier than usual so we were looking at going that way this time but can't see it for sure anywhere...

When is Extra actually 'due'?

Hey gang, sorry if I've failed to find the answer somewhere obvious. First time Extra contributor - have been struggling to find exactly when to submit by. Is it the same as the 'rating games ends' timer? Or a day before? All I could see in the rules was 'three weeks'.

Thank you!!

Opting in/out of categories

Hey all,

Wanted to ask on here for transparency's sake to see what the community thought.

We're a Jam team, I'm the composer. Have put a great deal of work into the music so far and will continue to for the rest of the jam. Our SFX guy seems to have ghosted. Thankfully, we're making a colony management type thing, and the only desperately needed sounds will be a couple of UI clicks and so on.

I found some ideal ones online to use - I didn't create them though. I obviously don't want to opt out of the Sound category completely having put all this time into the music, but I don't want to be dishonest either. Do you think it'd be reasonable for us to still opt-in for sound and just reference the UI sounds on the game page...? It'll literally be two clicking sounds.

Thanks!

Thanks for 20 reviews on Exodus :)

Big thanks to all the people who came and rate/reviewed Exodus. It's the first time we're looking at a serious post-jam build and expanding things further from there, so the feedback has been extremely valuable. Much appreciation to this community for taking the time to really play things out and offer truly constructive criticism.

HTML5 link here if you'd like to have a crack - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/exodus

And feel free to drop any games in here you'd love to have rated/reviewed - HTML5 preferably, but we'll try and get around to anything.

Thanks for jamming <3

"No Spam" appreciation post

They say the best work is the stuff you don't notice.

It just occurred to me this morning that this LD has been (for me at least) a wonderfully spambot-free experience, to the point that I'd forgotten just how bad it was in recent LDs.

Full credit to Mike and whoever else was involved in freeing us of this curse.

Use your hearts sparingly!

Hello jammers,

I hope you're all recovering from the grind and either resting or enjoying playing some other LD entries. Sadly I've noticed so far an unprecedented amount of blatant copy-paste or one-word comments from people clearly just trying to rate as many games as possible to push their game up the stack. One person I saw just now wrote a warm and positive review for a game that literally had no link.

The system accounts for this however - remember that the little heart you can give to comments is there for you to acknowledge actual feedback - it's to reward people for taking the community reviewing system seriously.

If you want this community to thrive, remember your little heart is your stake in the economy here. 'wow nice' may be positive, but it's not feedback, and it's not genuine - hold the line, and hold your heart <3 Save it for someone who actually played your game and gave it some thought.

Well done all. Can't wait to play, rate and review your stuff.

Another Ludum Dare, another little OST down. Experience is slowly teaching me the value of ‘less is more’ in these jams - it’s easily the smallest amount of content I’ve made for a Ludum Dare, but almost certainly the most refined.

I’ll try and do a proper post-mortem sometime soon from a musical perspective, but just in brief, it’s such a cool thing to be a part of as a musician-gamer with no coding or visual art skills. I love this event for giving me the chance as a muso to get involved with a medium I love so much. And I’d love to hear all the music made by the community as I go about rating and reviewing over the coming weeks!

So I ask you - please link anything below either with original music you loved, or music you yourself made for the jam! I’m here for it and want to hear all of it.

I’ve left a link to our submission’s page below, as well as the OST on its own. Keep jamming!!

TO THE DANGER ZONE!!!

Alright people - 24 hours left. Let's save some games!!

I know, I know, maybe if they'd rated more etc they could cross the line, and so on - but who knows, maybe they were too busy (it happens), maybe they're new and missed the boat, whatever. But they made a game, and that's awesome.

Looks like twitch.tv/frankiepixelshow is streaming some endangered stuff too.

Let's get around them and encourage people to keep making games.

Calling all composers - I know you're out there... though I won't be surprised if it takes you a few days to come up for air.

Drop your games and/or original jam soundtracks. Super keen to hear what everyone's been up to this jam and a bit of debrief on how you went, and how you went about it. Had a great chat last jam with a bunch of different LD musicians and thought I'd kick the ball again.

As for me - had the pleasure of working alongside @Stead this jam on Will of the Wisp and really happy with how it turned out - but can't wait to be humbled by the things you've all made.
