Hey just so you know I updated my game to include “HTML5” in the link and it still hasn’t showed up, I think it was longer than 15 minutes ago.

I could be wrong, so don’t take this the wrong way, but –

Doesn’t this undermine the intent of the official system? I thought the point is to only present games that have few ratings, or whose creators are good sports about rating other games. This way, no game ever gets far more ratings than others. By allowing people to rate from any game, only the ones that look “interesting” get picked.

Tell me please, this site shows how many votes won my game and what it takes place on the list? Is it possible to show the voting results in real time?

Feed My Boyfriend Timelapse

I normally put the game’s soundtrack on my timelapses, but for this game I wrote 3 10 second pieces and that wouldn’t loop well. So I spent way too much time making all the music into a 5 minute piece, you can listen to it either on the video or here: https://soundcloud.com/leafo/feed-my-boyfriend

Sell your game on itch.io this October and itch.io takes no cut

Hey everyone,

I created itch.io, the indie game marketplace. It’s kinda like Steam but there’s no client and it’s completely open. Anyone can start selling a game immediately from anywhere in the world. People buying your game can pay what they want above a minimum price too. Traditionally itch.io has taken a 10% cut of all transactions to pay for itself, but in celebration of the October Challenge itch.io will be taking no money. That means you get all the features of itch.io and you get to keep most of your profit. I say most because the payment provider (Amazon/PayPal) still takes their cut. If there was a way to disable that I would :).

If you’ve never seen itch.io before I suggest you check out the developers page to see what it’s all about. Some of the features it provides are free file hosting, game landing page designer, download and purchase analytics, Flash/Unity/jar support and the ability to host your own indie game sale. If you’ve created a game then you can use itch.io to quickly create a webpage for it where people can buy it (or you can give it away for free!). If you’ve ever seen Bandcamp before then you can think of itch.io as the same idea but applied to indie games.

Thanks!

P.S. I’m always working on itch.io and adding new features, if you’re interested in updates then you can follow the site on twitter: @itchio

Ludum Dare game browser updated for LD30

Greetings, I’ve updated the game browser for Ludum Dare 30! If you want a fast way to view, filter, and sort games then check it out! All 2539 comp and jam games are there!

http://ludumdare.itch.io

You can hover over each game to access the game’s downloads and see the number of ratings (the star) and the game’s coolness (the smiley face). The page is updated every 5 minutes. Games are categorized into groups by the URLs they have available for download or linked. For example if you made love2d game then one of your downloads should say love in the title or have a file URL with the extension .love. If something is categorized incorrectly feel free to tweet me, @moonscript and I’ll try to fix it. Thanks and enjoy!

New features for Ludum Dare on itch.io

Hello all,

I didn’t work on any games for Ludum Dare this time around, but I did add some new stuff to itch.io that you might find useful. The biggest one is that you can can now embed games hosted on itch.io directly on your submission page. The new embed feature lets you embed HTML and Flash games anywhere, and it works great with Ludum Dare’s submission page:

Drag link to embed

After uploading your game just find the new “Embed game” section on the distribute tab of the game’s edit page.

The second update is for tagging games. I just wanted to make it really obvious that you can tag your game for Ludum Dare. I also added the ability to provide your submission link directly from within the create/edit page:

Tag your game and provide link

Hope you ejoy! (and I hope I’ll get some time to make a game next time)

Ludum Dare game browser updated for LD36

I’ve updated the Ludum Dare game browser for all the LD36 games submitted so far. It will automatically update as games come in. Because this LD doesn’t have any ratings, I’ve changed the sort order to be completely random! This page lists all the games submitted along with the image provided by the developer. You can scroll through the entire list on a signle page. Enjoy

Game development resources on itch.io

Hey all, I've written a blog post in preparation for Ludum Dare with a handful of game development tools you can find on itch.io. Read it here

This time around I've moving away from my regular engine, love2d to try out something new, TIC-80. I decided it would be fun to collect a list of tools in case you're looking for something new to try out for LD. (If it's your first time, I also have a guide of tips

Anyway I'm in and looking forward to what everyone creates
